Crimson Desert has received its next major patch. Update 1.06 introduces new permanent mounts and a way to recover resources spent on weapon upgrades.

Less than two weeks after 1.05, the next major update, 1.06, is here for Crimson Desert. Once again, fan requests have been fulfilled with new mounts and a handy feature. The community is also excited about a new minigame, though it can quickly drain your silver account. An overview of the most important changes and all patch notes for Update 1.06 are available here.

What’s in Update 1.06?

We need to talk about two major changes in the update. The most important one is extraction, a feature that allows you to restore upgraded weapons and equipment to their original state at the blacksmith and receive resources in return . Many players had requested this feature, as upgrading weapons requires spending very limited materials, such as artifacts. Here’s how the new feature works:

  • Go to any blacksmith and select the “Extract” option from the menu.
  • Here, you can now choose to remove individual levels from the weapon or piece of equipment, or reset it directly to its original level. We get all used Abyss artifacts and unique crafting materials back, as well as 70 percent of common resources like wood, ore, and gems.

The second major new feature in Update 1.06 is new, permanent mounts. Certain wild animals can now be tamed by defeating them and then feeding them. These include bears, boars, wolves, deer, bighorn sheep, cuckoos, iguanas, raptors, camels, lions, and tigers. You can also equip saddles on the new mounts.

According to the patch notes, the vending machine contains twelve types of lamps, a chair, a headpiece with a unique appearance, as well as Abyss artifacts and Abyss gear. The vending machine is already well-received by players:

They added a claw machine mini-game that gives you unique rewards, haha, those developers.

Edit: I’m playing the claw game right now; there are dozens of prizes from different machines, and it’s driving me crazy. The true endgame is here.

Finally, a use for all the gold I’ve hoarded.

In addition to the major updates, Update 1.06 also includes plenty of smaller changes. For example, dogs now assist us in combat with a special item, and all fish in the inventory can now be cleaned at once. There are also optional sheaths for swords, new abilities for Oongka, and the option to upgrade equipment like the Visione. You can find the complete list of changes on page 2 of the patch notes.

Patch Notes for Update 1.06

What’s New

  • Special mounts have been added.

    • A change has been made that allows you to build trust with certain animals and register them as mounts.

      • Affected animals: Bear, Boar, Wolf, Deer, Bighorn Sheep, Cuckoo, Iguana, Raptor, Camel, Lion, Tiger
      • Wild animals can be tamed by subduing and feeding them. However, certain species require special taming methods.

        • For animals that cannot be tamed, trust will not increase even by feeding them.

      • When you are mounted on an animal, you can select food from your inventory and feed it by clicking “Feed.”

    • An additional tab for managing special mounts has been added to the inventory.

      • In the Mount tab of the Quick Access panel, only one normal mount and one special mount can now be registered at a time.

    • The appearance of special mounts has been changed so that the saddle is no longer part of the standard appearance but can now be equipped as gear.

      • You can equip gear in the management tab for special mounts.
      • You can purchase and equip saddles for special mounts at the saddleries in each city.

        • Hernand Saddlery – Wolf and Bear Saddles
        • Equinher Saddlery in Hernand – Deer and Wolf Saddles
        • Calphade Saddlery – Bear and Cuckoo Bird Saddle

      • With this feature, you can extract and recover some of the materials used to refine equipment.
      • You can use this feature by speaking with the blacksmiths in the villages or regions.
      • When extracting, you can choose the level up to which you want to extract. You can extract just one level, or all the way back to the original “base refinement level” the item had when you first obtained it.
      • The equipment is not destroyed during extraction; only the refinement level is changed accordingly.

        • Example: An item with a base refinement level of 4 that has currently been refined to level 10.
        • If you select extraction to level 4, the materials used to refine the item from level 4 to level 10 will be extracted. The equipment remains at refinement level 4.

      • The amount of materials obtained during extraction varies depending on the material type.

        • Special Materials – Special enhancement materials such as artifacts or Aeserion’s Scale are recovered at a 100% rate.
        • Common Materials – Iron Ore, Copper Ore, Bloodstone, etc., are recovered at approximately a 70% rate.

    • A new “Unarmed Combat” skill set has been added for Oongka.

      • You can view this in the Skills window by selecting “Bare Hands.”
      • The Unarmed Combat skill set for Damiane will be added in an upcoming update.
