With far more role-playing gameplay in store, Warhammer 40K: Darktide will soon be slashing and shooting. A big update turns the title upside down.

Not even a year ago, Warhammer 40K: Darktide was released and could in no way live up to the hype before its release. Especially technically, the title was plagued with more problems than opponents crawling around in its multiplayer levels.

But the developers didn’t let up and so came update after update and desired features actually replaced annoying bugs in the recent past. In short: the title is slowly moulting. And with the next big update, the team behind it is turning things upside down by injecting a good portion of role-playing game In addition, the title is coming in early October for the Xbox Seriesexactly on October 4. It will be playable for free via Game Pass.

Darktide becomes a role-playing game?

(As a report from PCGamer explains), all four classes will receive extensive skill trees as well as numerous associated new active and passive abilities.

We want to give games more control within their class to invite experimentation and allow for more play styles. Basically, we reinterpreted what a class is in Darktide.

Once the update is released in October, you will get one skill point per level up to use on nodes and intermediate passive abilities and modifiers. If you go straight down a line, you will have points left over. This is to invite you to try out other options.

Compared to the current system, this represents a huge expansion of freedom of choice. Until now, there was one point every five levels, up to the level cap of 30. In addition, the choice is far smaller.

However, the skill trees themselves are not a reaction to player criticism. According to PCGamer, they were already in development last year, but simply not ready for release. Some classes were more advanced than others, but there was no way to bring the skill trees with all the associated options earlier.

Are you already reloading the bolter? Or do you have to get it out of the dusty corner first, since you have long since shelved Darktide? Will you give the title another chance, since the developers are taking the right steps? Or is the Warhammer Hunt still a disappointment for you? Feel free to write us your opinion in the comments, we are curious!
