According to a report, the development studio Wayforward was working on a 2.5D beat ’em up based on the Netflix series. But right now, no one knows what became of the project.

We’ll have to wait quite a while for Cyberpunk 2.That’s because CD Projekt Red is currently focused entirely onThe Witcher 4and there’s also anew story DLC for The Witcher 3on the way.

The wait for Project Orion (the working title of the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077) might be shortened by another game… assuming it hasn’t already been scrapped.

A standalone video game based on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners?

A report fromMP1Streveals thata standalone video game based on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is—or was—in development. However, it’s currently unclear whether the project is still active or if it has already been canceled.

It’s reportedly not a first-person shooter/role-playing game hybrid, though. According to the report, the studio Wayforward was working on a2.5D brawler/beat ’em up with multiplayer elementsunder the working titleGemini.

A title like this would certainly fit into the developer’s portfolio, as they’ve previously released solid examples of the genre such asRiver City Girlsand theShantae series. The anime aesthetic and gameplay would be a perfect fit for Wayforward, like a gorilla’s fist on Kiroshi’s eye.& nbsp; And Lucy has already made a guest appearance in the beat ’em up Guilty Gear!

But here’s where it gets tricky:According to MP1ST, the project was still in a very early stage of development just recently. However, changes to the funding plan reportedly led to the cancellation of a licensed game and layoffs at the studio.

We simply don’t know if this refers to Project Gemini (i.e., the Edgerunners fighting game).

If you’re interested in the rumored Cyberpunk: Edgerunners video game, all you can do is keep your fingers crossed. But it wouldn’t be entirely far-fetched to think that CD Projekt Red wants to get more out of the Netflix series.

After all, the first season of Edgerunners was a huge success, gave Cyberpunk 2077 a nice boost in player numbers, and a second season is now set to premiere this fall.
