For years, many players have wanted a third-person perspective for V. Now, a new PC mod delivers exactly that.

You spend hours tweaking hairstyles, tattoos, and cyberware in the character editor, only to see your character almost exclusively on motorcycles or occasionally in the inventory window afterward.

Since its release in late 2020, parts of the community have been clamoring for a third-person perspective forCyberpunk 2077. While mods for this have been around for a while, the previous solutions rarely felt quite right. Now there’s a new attempt that works significantly better.

»Immersive Third Person – Best Of Both Worlds” by modder CybrDrake has been available on Nexus Mods since September 3, 2026, and aims to do exactly what the name promises: make Cyberpunk 2077 playable from a third-person perspective without dismantling all of the game’s systems designed for a first-person perspective.

What Makes the New Mod Better Than Earlier Attempts

Shortly after launch, early workarounds like “JB – TPP MOD” caused a stir, but they suffered from one problem: Simply moving the camera back a few meters isn’t enough in Cyberpunk 2077. The game was consistently developed by CD Projekt Red for the first-person perspective, and V’s movements look correspondingly awkward when viewed from the outside.

CybrDrake has therefore reworked numerous animations specifically for the third-person view. In particular, the female version of V received new and adapted animations for running, jogging, sprinting, jumping, landing, swimming, sliding, dodging, climbing, and picking up items.

For Male V, the overhaul has been less extensive so far. The modder himself notes that, for now, the focus has primarily been on correcting animations, which is why the female character currently offers a better experience. However, further work on Male V is planned.

The camera is also significantly more flexible than in older implementations. You can freely rotate it around V, adjust the distance, and save five different camera profiles. A collision check is also designed to prevent the camera from constantly flying through the nearest wall.

To ensure the whole thing doesn’t disrupt the actual gameplay flow, the mod uses a dynamic switch. As soon as you draw a weapon and get into a firefight, get behind the wheel, interact with terminals, or trigger dialogue cutscenes, the game automatically switches back to the first-person view. So don’t expect a Witcher 3 with guns.
