The open beta of the tag-team fighter is struggling with performance drops and input lag on PC. Arc System Works promises a fix before the upcoming release.

The open beta for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls drew Marvel fans to their screens over the weekend. However, PC players apparently struggled with a whole host of issues that affected the PC port exclusively. Developer Arc System Works therefore issued an apology over the weekend, along with initial solutions.

Criticism of optimization and high CPU usage

AsKotakudiscovered, PC players reported massive performance issues on social media and Reddit. Somesuspect that the port “is putting an extreme load on a single CPU thread due to anti-cheat software and the PS5 architecture.” In addition, it appears that “five Sony sub-services are constantly running in the background with the game.”

“The game isn’t optimized well enough, especially since only a few settings actually work and many players rely on them,” saysa user. “My PC makes the game look like a title from the 2000s, and then it runs as if I had a PC from the 2000s. Even on low settings with upscalers.”

“This is such a bummer,” writes another user, attaching a sad screenshot of their Task Manager.

Input buffering issues and hurdles caused by the PSN requirement

”After some playing and testing, I found out that input buffering is practically nonexistent in this game,”& nbsp;notesa fan. “Not just for buttons, but for motion inputs as well. When I try to combo a normal attack into a special using a DP motion, I usually just end up with a special using a QCF motion. It seems as though the game simply ignores the forward motion if you don’t input it within the cancelable window along with the rest of the D+DF motion (or QCF, as I often do). It just reads whatever was inputted within the cancel window.”

What is Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls?

The tag-team fighter from Arc System Works (Guilty Gear) pits iconic Marvel heroes and villains against each other in fast-paced battles. The release for PC and PlayStation 5 is scheduled for August 6, 2026.

Othersare complainingabout the PSN (PlayStation Network) account requirement. One player writes: “Why do I have to log in again every time I close the game? This extra hurdle is terrible and just makes it unnecessarily annoying to even get into the game.”

Official statement and investigation by the developers

Of course, that’s exactly the point of a beta test: to identify gameplayandperformance issues before the final release. However, the August 6, 2026, launch is already just around the corner. The good news, at least, is that the team is aware of the issues.

“We are aware of the gameplay and performance issues currently plaguing the PC version of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.

Our team is actively investigating these issues and working on a fix. We’ll provide an update as soon as we know more,” the developers confirmed over the weekend.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding. We sincerely apologize for how this has impacted your gaming experience.”

In the meantime, a few temporary fixes have been circulating. One of them is to enable the “Execute Shader Warmup” option in the graphics settings. However, even with these workarounds, many players continued to experience issues. Although the development team has shared additional suggested solutions, they’ve included the following warning: “These are not officially confirmed fixes.” You can find more information in the thread below:

Guilty Gear developer Arc System Works unveiled the new tag-team fighter Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls last year. The full launch roster has now been confirmed: Storm, Magik, Wolverine, Danger, Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Peni Parker, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther, Hulk, Doctor Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin, Carnage, Ghost Rider, Blade, Deadpool, and Loki.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is also blocked in over 100 countries. The reason for this is, once again, Sony’s controversial requirement for a PSN link. The release for PC and PS5 is still scheduled for August 6, 2026.

Why is a PSN link required on PC?

Publisher Sony is increasingly requiring an active connection to the PlayStation Network for its multiplayer titles on PC. Since the PSN is not officially supported worldwide, this blocks sales in over 100 regions.
