Former Brazilian CS:GO professional player Shayene “shAy” Victorio has received a draconian punishment. She has been sentenced to 116 years in prison for illegal business.
Life imprisonment is a common term. But 116 years bring a curious note to the latest sentence from Brazil. According to Brazilian media reports, the prison sentence for shAy is due to embezzlement and theft. This was reported on the Brazilian ESPN website.
Together with her ex-boyfriend, shAy ran an online business from 2013 to 2017. Specifically, according to the court of São Paulo, a total of 118 customers are said not to have received their goods during this period. As a result, the two people responsible were sued by the victims.
Appeal lodged: Sentence said to be inhumane
The lawyer of shAy had already appealed against the judgement because it was considered “inhumane” from the point of view of the parties involved. According to information from shAy, her ex-boyfriend had taken full responsibility for online trading. Of the 116 years shAy would only have to serve 30 years, however, longer prison sentences are not allowed under Brazilian law.
shAy has been active as a streamer on Twitch since 2019 and regularly posts pictures and stories on social media such as Instagram. On the platform, the Brazilian also affirmed her innocence. In 2018, shAy withdrew from the professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene. Her last stop was at Keyd Stars Female.
