AMD is bringing back the Ryzen 7 5800X3D as a 10th Anniversary Edition. Gamers with an AM4 platform will once again have access to the fastest gaming CPU for their platform starting June 25.

They say the dead live longer:About a year and a half after AMD “buried” the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, the once-best gaming CPU is making a comeback. The company announced this ahead of the upcoming Computex 2026 (June 2–5).

To mark the tenth anniversary of the AM4 platform, introduced in 2016, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is being revived as a “10th Anniversary Edition,” offering a new opportunity to anyone who missed the chance to upgrade back then.

Ryzen 7 5800X3D: Identical Specs, New Context

As AMD further explains, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is set to hit store shelves on June 25, 2026. The suggested retail price is $349—a full $100 less than its original launch price in 2022.

At the time of this article’s publication, no official AMD information lists a price in euros; our colleagues atHeiseclaims to have learned that the price will be 360 euros.

  • As a reminder: Back then, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D launched here at a price of 489 euros.
  • The package also includes a Carbice Ice Pad—a thermal pad designed to replace traditional thermal paste.

The technical specifications of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition remain unchanged from the original 2022 model.

Eight CPU cores based on the Zen 3 architecture run at 3.4 GHz; in Boost mode, they can reach up to 4.5 GHz. The thermal design power (TDP) is 105 watts; under load, it can reach up to 142 watts.

  • Of course, the big selling point for PC gamers is a must: 96 MB of L3 cache, including AMD’s 3D V-Cache—a stacked cache die above the processor chip.
  • This means game titles have to access the sluggish main memory much less frequently, which directly translates to higher and more stable frame rates in games.

Why now, of all times?

There’s likely more to this comeback than mere nostalgia. Since late 2025, the AM4 platform has simply lacked an X3D option: The Ryzen 7 5700X3D, the more affordable latecomer, was the last to reach its EOL status and had disappeared from store shelves.

That wouldn’t be a big deal in itself—after all, AM4 is already a decade old—if it weren’t for the memory crisis. DDR5 modules have been costing three to four times their original price for months because AI data centers are absorbing production capacity. Added to this are the potential costs for AM5 motherboards, which are also more expensive than their AM4 equivalents.

Upgrading from AM4 to AM5 has thus become noticeably more expensive—but those looking for a gaming upgrade within the old generation might now find what they’re looking for again.
