The new controllers, featuring a sleek Vice City design, will be released alongside the game. Pre-orders will begin shortly.
Although there was no new trailer for GTA 6 at the PlayStation State of Play, there was a nice reveal for everyone looking to get the right hardware for this year’s highlight. In one week, you’ll be able to pre-order the Grand Theft Auto VI-inspired DualSense Wireless Controllers. The limited edition will be released on November 19, 2026, just like the game.
DualSense Wireless Controllers in GTA 6 Design
Sony itself describes the black-and-white controllers as follows: “With their shimmering, iridescent finish, textured palm leaf details, and official Grand Theft Auto VI branding, they are a striking tribute to modern Vice City.”
How do I perceive the two gamepads in the trailer? GTA is, after all, a rather colorful franchise. Sure, it’s about crime and some dark themes, but on the whole, thanks to the colorful covers, the palm trees, and the many cars, the series tends to evoke a sense of colorful chaos. At least that’s the case for me.
I expected Sony and Rockstar to release a special edition controller. That was a given. It would have been the surprise of the year if they hadn’t. But I didn’t see coming that they’d come out with something so simple, shimmering, and charming.
Both the white and black versions feature a minimalist design. Instead of a colorful coating, we find engraved palm fronds and a simple, gray “VI” on the touchpad.
The thumbsticks are also understated. The real eye-catcher here is the metallic blue and violet shimmering color in the center of the controller. In the close-ups in the trailer, this area even seems to glisten slightly.
Excuse me, but who gave you permission to design such stylish controllers? They don’t scream “Grand Theft Auto,” and they look so pretty that I’m almost tempted to stop by the Sony Store on September 10. That really grabs my attention.
