A long-awaited German economic simulation is letting you down, but there are plenty of great consolation prizes coming to Steam.
What a week this could have been for GameStar readers: Actually, *Die Gilde: Europa 1410* was supposed to launch in Early Access this week—the big German city-building comeback that many of you are currently waiting for.
That’s not happening for now—publisher THQ Nordic has postponed the release date at the last minute to September 2026, officially due to feedback from the Steam Next Fest demo.
Still, it’s an exciting week:Between Cthulhu co-op, detective work, and an RPG where you play as a pathogen inside the human body, there’s something for practically every taste. As we do every Monday, we’ve rounded up all the major releases for you.

This Week’s Highlight: The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu
Hardly any other game this week has generated as much buzz as The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu. The demo at Steam Next Fest was apparently a huge hit: According to publisher Nacon, it was downloaded over 450,000 times, and more than 300,000 people actively played it.
The Concept: In teams of four, you send expedition parties—in the style of 16th-century Spanish conquistadors—into a cursed South American jungle to recover treasures and find the missing—but coming back alive is the real challenge. The weapons are deliberately old-fashioned (flintlock rifle, bow, knife), making combat noticeably slow and raw. Rain even renders your gunpowder completely useless.
Things get really eerie thanks to the Sanity System: The longer you’re out in the jungle, the more your perception becomes distorted—individually, for each player. An ally might suddenly look like a monster, or a harmless path might seem like a deadly pit. The question of whether you can still trust your team is sure to lead to wonderfully paranoid moments in voice chat.
The Standard Edition costs 30 euros, while the Deluxe Edition—which includes an extra mission and cosmetic packs—costs 40 euros. German text is available, but the voice acting remains entirely in English. Cross-play between PC, PS5, and Xbox Series is also supported.
