The official cover artwork and a concrete release date for the PS5 version of the role-playing game have allegedly surfaced. What do the new rumours say?

The NextGen upgrade of Cyberpunk 2077 has been hotly anticipated for a long time. Now a recent leak promises that the release is imminent – and also presents the alleged new cover artwork.

The information is unconfirmed, but comes from a usually very reliable source, namely PlayStation Game Size, which regularly pulls information from the PS database. On Twitter, the site now shares this image:

How credible are the rumours and what do they mean for patch 1.5? We classify the current leak for you. Of course, we have also sent a request to CDPR and will let you know if we get a statement

Cyberpunk 2077: NextGen upgrade supposedly coming soon

When is the NextGen upgrade supposed to be released? The Twitter account estimates the release to be mid-February to early March. Originally, the version was supposed to be released in 2021, but was then postponed to the first quarter of 2022. So a release in spring was also officially planned – and the fact that a cover artwork appears in the system should be a good sign.

What does the cover artwork show? The allegedly leaked image shows the already known version of V with pink sidecut and samurai jacket. The background consists of the eye-saving neon yellow that also graces most of Cyberpunk 2077’s official posts. Behind V, outlines of Night City can be seen. At first glance, the image appears to be of high quality and matches the style of previous artwork. That’s why we think it’s unlikely to be a fake – a talented artist would have to have put a lot of effort into it.

What is known about the new version? PlayStation Game Size has not yet announced the installation size of the NextGen version. So far, there is also only talk of a PS5 edition, but the upgrade for Xbox should appear at the same time and with the same content. Presumably, the NextGen version will include graphics improvements as well as the small DLCs that have been released so far.

Cyberpunk 2077 Roadmap: What’s next for updates and DLCs

Will the NextGen upgrade be released together with patch 1.5?

It has been known for some time that a large patch for Cyberpunk 2077 is coming. With the update 1.5, the developers want to bring further improvements for all players. However, we still don’t know anything concrete about the content (will there be more DLCs?) or the release date.

However, a recent update on Steam gave us hope that the patch will appear soon. So it would only stand to reason that the NextGen version and update 1.5 will be released at the same time.

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.5: Hints of an imminent release are growing

If the leak turns out to be true and Cyberpunk 2077 does indeed release the NextGen upgrade around mid-February, then Night City will have to compete against strong open-world competition: Both Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West will be released in this period. It remains to be seen which perilous world players will give their time to.

Cyberpunk 2077: What features would you like to see in patch 1.5?

What do you think of the leak? Do you like the alleged NextGen cover? And will Cyberpunk 2077 entice you again or do you already have completely different game plans come February? Let us know in the comments
