The second QoL update overhauls the evidence system and introduces condensed maps. Kinetic Games also adds new details to the death mechanics.

Kinetic Games has released the second Quality-of-Life update forPhasmophobia. It introduces a whole host of new Restricted maps, simplifies evidence collection, and fixes various VR bugs. The patch also adds significantly more ways to meet your end in the game.

Phasmophobia Makes Player Deaths Much More Exciting

The “Quality of Life Part 2” update is now live on PC and PlayStation. According to the developers, the Xbox release will follow soon. The patch builds directly on “Quality of Life Part 1,” which introduced the revamped “13 Willow Street” map and numerous other gameplay adjustments back in July.

We’re finally getting the long-overdue small-to-medium-sized Restricted maps for Prison, Brownstone High School, and Point Hope. These are condensed versions of the original maps. They’re designed to speed up your investigations and add more variety to your runs.

Collecting evidence also runs much more smoothly now. You no longer have to constantly check your in-game journal manually. Instead, you can now tell right away from your photo camera, video camera, or sound recorder whether you’ve already captured a piece of evidence. This is made possible by semi-transparent overlays and yellow LEDs.

When your teammates select evidence or ghost types, the entire group can now see it. This saves you from having to frantically coordinate at the last second before a hunt begins.

VR players can look forward to a more responsive character rig. It now tracks real-world body movements much more accurately. There’s also a series of bug fixes that the community had previously reported. The developers have also revamped the death mechanic: When you die, your skin turns grayer and your eyes cloud over. Additionally, voice chat is cut off the exact moment you’re killed.

The update arrives a few months after some disappointing news for fans: Kinetic Games had confirmed that the 1.0 launch of Phasmophobia would be postponed from this year to 2027. The studio justified this decision by stating that it wanted to prioritize quality over speed. Previously, the “Player Character Update” had drawn heavy criticism. Kinetic Games ultimately apologized to players for the issues with the long-awaited “Player Character Update.” The developers admitted that they had missed their target and failed to keep their promises.

Since then, the team has released numerouspatchesandhotfixesto iron out the many new issues. The studio explained how thoroughly it had reviewed player feedback. The stated goal: to create a significantly better experience for everyone who plays Phasmophobia.

“We’ve read the feedback from the entire community. The frustration and disappointment were absolutely palpable,” the team admitted.
