Gothic Remake: Patch 1.0.2 fixes annoying quest bugs that were blocking your progress

The new update addresses bugs related to character progression, including the Fire Mage ceremony. You can find all the patch notes on page 2.

Have you encountered plot-stopping issues while playing theGothic Remakethat prevent you from continuing? With Patch 1.0.2, there’s a good chance these annoying bugs have been fixed. We’ve rounded up the highlights of the new update for you.

On page 2 of the article, you’ll find an overview of all the Patch 1.0.2 notes.

The Highlights of Patch 1.0.2

  • Quest bug during the Fire Mage ceremony fixed: An annoying bug caused you to be attacked when you tried to become a Fire Mage and entered the church to do so. This quest bug also occurred in our test and resulted, among other things, in a seven-point penalty.

  • Bugs have been fixed wheredialogs weren’t triggeredand thus blocked story progression.
  • Lockpicking now gives you additional XP. This makes it even more worthwhile to learn the skill earlier in the game.

  • Adjustments have been made to themagic balance. Many high-level spells felt weak and have now been buffed. These include, for example, Rain of Fire.

  • Monsters have been buffed, including the Minecrawler Queen. The Mine Valley is now even deadlier.

  • TheNPCs are now strongeras well and no longer such easy prey.

We’ll of course continue to keep an eye on the Gothic Remake for you, and after all these updates and patches, we’ll naturally be paying a follow-up visit soon—which will likely also result in an upgrade to the role-playing experience.

New Features
Presets for Performance and Quality modes have been added to the graphics menu on console platforms.

Bug Fixes:
GENERAL

Various crash fixes and optimizations
A bug has been fixed that prevented rest time from being restored if the game session was too short.
Fixed a bug that caused some important conversations not to trigger, which could block the storyline.
Fixed a bug where mages’ reactions might not match the god they believed in under certain circumstances.
Fixed a bug where the glossary was updated based on the game’s progress rather than the player’s knowledge.
A bug was fixed that disabled the “Look” function during dialogues with seated characters.
Further improvements to the audio synchronization of cutscenes.
An issue was fixed where seated characters did not display gestures during dialogues.
The concert sequence while the game was paused has been corrected.
Duplicate characters at the beginning of a cutscene have been removed.
The orc subtitles no longer get cut off when fast-forwarding.
An issue where the “Game Over” screen persisted when loading future save files—even before the screen had fully appeared—has been fixed.
Inventory sorting has been improved

Storyline Bug Fixes
CHAPTER 1

A bug that could cause the “Transport Lefty’s Water” loop to get stuck has been fixed.
Players can once again ask Mordrag and Dusty for quest guidance.
A bug has been fixed that prevented the “Magical Transaction” from starting after the player had read the letter.
The magical transaction is complete after the materials have been handed over to Torrez.

CHAPTER 3
A bug has been fixed that prevented the guards’ alarms from resetting, allowing the player to reach the Water Mages.
A bug has been fixed that caused the Fire Mages to remain hostile during the Innos Ritual.
Fixed an issue where Kirgo was not in the exchange zone during the quest to advance in guard rank.
Fixed an issue where novices would follow the hero indefinitely during the quest “A Point of No Return.”
Fixed a bug that allowed Lee’s monologue to be skipped.

CHAPTER 4
Fixed an issue where the gates would open incorrectly after the Fire Mages quest.
The conversation in the Jackal Freemine cannot be skipped.
Fixed an issue where Orc ambient dialogue was constantly repeating.
Dungeons and restricted areas in the Old Camp are now marked as accessible.

CHAPTER 5
The characters in the Kalomist Camp are updated after they go to the Temple of the Sleepers
Fixed a bug that could cause Umakhal’s dialogue flow to be incorrect.

Balancing Changes:
General

Picking locks now grants a small amount of XP to make it feel more rewarding
The stun damage of the two-handed axe has been reduced to prevent “stunlock.”

MAGICAL BALANCING

  • The damage of “Ball Lightning” has been increased
  • The damage of “Fireball” has been increased
  • The damage of “Fire Rain” has been increased
  • The damage of “Chain Lightning” has been increased at high levels
  • Healing has been increased at high levels
  • The mana costs of spells at high levels have been adjusted
  • The damage of “Ice Block” has been increased at high levels
  • Damage of “Fist of Wind” has been increased at high levels

CREATURE BALANCE

  • Young Troll: Damage increased
  • Swamp Shark: Damage and armor increased
  • Shadow Beast: Damage increased
  • Snapper: Damage and armor increased
  • Skeleton: Damage increased
  • Skeleton Warrior: Damage increased
  • Orc Dog: Damage and health increased
  • Goblins: Stone damage modifiers

CHAPTER 2

  • Mother Molerat: Health increased
  • Queen of the Mine Crawlers: Health increased

CHAPTER 3

  • Harpy: Damage increased
  • Biter: Damage, armor, and health increased
  • Bloodhound: Damage, Armor, and Health increased

CHAPTER 4

  • Razor: Damage, Armor, and Health increased
  • Fire Lizard Prime: Damage increased
  • Minecrawler Warrior: Damage and Armor increased

CHAPTER 5

  • Demon Lord: Damage increased
  • Fire Demon: Damage increased
  • Minecrawler Temple: Damage and Armor increased

CHAPTER 6

  • Mad Cor Kalom: Health and armor increased
  • Mad Minecrawler Queen: Damage increased

BALANCING FOR HUMANS:
Increased health and armor for all humans except lower-tier classes such as Gravediggers, Scrapers, Farmers, and Novices.
