A new mod brings DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation to The Witcher 3—but it requires an RTX 50 GPU and a Patreon subscription at $5 per month.

Fans have been playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for about ten years. Modder PureDark is now ensuring that the game runs smoother than ever in 2026: His new mod implements DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation—technologies that simply didn’t exist at the game’s original release date.

However, there are two catches. To benefit from it, you’ll need an RTX 50 series GPU and an active Patreon subscription with PureDark. The “Supporter” tier starts at $5 per month.

The Witcher 3 mod has a sweet spot

After all, initial tests on an RTX 5070 Ti with Ultra ray tracing settings by YouTuber Gaming DJ show that the raw FPS promises are being delivered.

As the YouTuber explains in his test run, the frame rate goes from a base value of 30 FPS in 2x mode up to 60 FPS, to 90 FPS in 3x mode, and to 180 FPS at 6x; however, further tests will have to show to what extent these values (and also the pure image quality) are reproducible.

  • The numbers sound impressive, but as is usually the case with all frame generation methods: the higher the base value, the “cleaner” the visuals look with interpolated frames.
  • The YouTuber himself recommends 3x mode as the “sweet spot” between added frames and clean textures.
  • On the other hand, those who crank it up to 6x must expect side effects: texture distortions appear around characters and menu elements that cannot be ignored.

Wccftechpoints out that this is the very first build of the mod – PureDark will (hopefully) address these issues in later versions.

Streamline 1.x vs. 2.11.1

CD Projekt RED released The Witcher 3 in May 2015 – more than three years before Nvidia first launched DLSS in February 2019.

It wasn’t until the so-called “Next-Gen Update” in December 2022 that DLSS Super Resolution, Frame Generation, Reflex, and other technical features were brought to the open world.

The “Streamline” SDK integrated at the time—which is an Nvidia layer between the game engine and DLSS features—is at version 1.x and is not compatible with “Multi Frame Generation” (MFG for short).

  • Multi Frame Generation, on the other hand, requires at least version 2.7.3. The PureDarks mod therefore simply replaces the outdated library with Streamline 2.11.1, thereby enabling MFG and Dynamic MFG on RTX 50 GPUs.

Installing the mod available atPatreoncan be downloaded in just a few steps. After you’ve extracted the ZIP file into the “The Witcher 3ind_dx12” directory, all you need to do is enable DLSS in the game settings and disable the Witcher 3’s internal DLSS FG.

After that, simply press the “End” key on your keyboard to access the mod menu and activate the desired frame generation mode.
