Nintendo’s major role-playing game is coming to the new console with 4K resolution, new content such as the rare blade MOMO, and an affordable upgrade path.

Starting today, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is available digitally in the console’s eShop. Those who would prefer a physical copy will have to wait until October 1, 2026—but it’s already available for pre-order at the Nintendo Store.

To mark the digital launch of the Switch 2 Edition of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Nintendo also released a new overview trailer. It shows you what to expect from the game on the new console.

Technical optimizations and exclusive bonus content

In TV mode, you can play Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the Switch 2 at 60 fps and 4K resolution; in handheld mode, it runs at 60 fps and 1080p resolution.

In addition, you’ll receive new and exclusive content such as the rare blade MOMO, which also features its own blade mission, “The Home of the Soul.” In Mercenary Mode, you can also directly control Blades in battle. New unlockable designs for Pyra and Mythra add even more variety; you’ll see these in both cutscenes and during gameplay.

Upgrade Prices, Update for the Torna Expansion, and a Look Ahead to Part 3

If you already own the Switch version, you can upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition. This costs 9.99 euros, while the Switch 2 Edition is regularly priced at 69.99 euros.

Alongside the main game, a free software update is being released for the physical version of Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country. This update allows the expansion to be experienced in 4K resolution at 60 fps in TV mode and at 1080p at 60 fps in handheld mode. Those who already own *Torna – The Golden Country* as part of the *Xenoblade Chronicles 2* Expansion Pass can enjoy the improved graphics by purchasing the Upgrade Pack.

On December 3, 2026, the series will continue with the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of *Xenoblade Chronicles 3*.
