It will be months before the next major update, but the developers have big plans.

Windroserecently celebrated a resounding success with its launch in Early Access. In no time at all, the online role-playing gamedrew crowds of playersand continues to rake in positive reviews.

While the amateur pirates happily sing shanties, the developers are celebrating too—though there’s no time to rest. Currently, smaller updates are being released regularly to address community feedback and fix bugs. But of course, the development of Windrose isn’t stopping there.

At least 6 months until the next story update

In acommunity post on Steamdevelopment studio Kraken Express offers a brief glimpse into its plans for the coming months.

First, there is now acommunity tool that makes it easier for you to report bugs and send ideas directly to the developers. This is intended to help Windrose continue to grow efficiently in the near future and bridge the gap until the next story update.

It will be quite a while before this is released,at least six months. The developers write:

Our project is quite ambitious, so we currently expect that developing this update will take at least six months. That may seem like a long time, but we’re confident that this will allow us to release an exciting and meaningful expansion of appropriate quality. In short: We’ll be working hard,it will be worth the wait.

Once the current technical tasks are completed, the team plans to fully focus on expanding the story. The content update will introduce the Ashlands as a new biome.

A roadmap for the update is currently being developed and is scheduled to be released in the next one to two months. The team intends to focus not only on new content but also on further developing gameplay systems. However, exactly what that entails has not yet been revealed.

Meanwhile, the community is reacting with mixed feelings to the long wait in the discussion thread under the post. While some assume that in six months, a large portion of players will have switched to other titles, others are certain that most will return by the time the new update arrives at the latest. We won’t know which is true until six months from now.
