The creator of Genshin Impact surprised attendees at Opening Night Live with *The Fall of Nodus*. Instead of an anime aesthetic, you can expect a dark setting and massive bosses.

To my surprise, Hoyoverse announced its new title today at Opening Night Live. The game is called Nodus’ Fall, and in terms of visuals, tone, and gameplay, it marks a significant departure from the usual bubblegum aesthetic.

Here’s the trailer—even if you’re strongly averse to gacha games, it’s worth checking out. It really makes an impression:

According to Geoff Keighley, you play as a Weaver “in a world where divine authority has crumbled and order has collapsed.”

He also described the game as a co-op action title in which players must stick together, coordinate closely, and employ tactics to defeat “powerful mythical beings.” There had been frequent speculation beforehand that the next game would be modeled after Monster Hunter, which—given this visual style—doesn’t seem far-fetched at first glance.

As you can easily see from the trailer, this is Unreal Engine 5, which Hoyoverse is using for the first time. Previously, the studio relied on Unity.

Neither the host nor the trailer revealed the platforms or a release date. But expect it to run on every conceivable device.

What do you think of the trailer?
