The Enhanced Edition features new cutscenes, story moments, and a more talkative main character.
Crimson Desert has received a free update with the Enhanced Edition, which takes the open-world title to a whole new level. In addition to new voice acting—including German—version 2.0 brings extensive story overhauls.
The beginning of the game, in particular, is designed to make it easier for you to get into the story and gameplay. Even experienced players are now considering whether they should start all over again from the very beginning.
New Crimson Desert, New Cliff
In thepatch notes from developer Pearl Abyss, you can find out more details about what’s included in the update.Here are the most important new features:
- New cutscenes and dialog
- Five new voice-overs, including one in German
- Improved skill-learning system: With the “Abyss Link,” you’ll receive a new currency for learning skills
- Eight new Cliff abilities
- Improved user interface for the main quest
What isn’t immediately apparent from the patch notes, however, is the scope of the new cutscenes and dialogues. Kliff has also been given a bit more expressiveness. Until now, he was more of a quiet character who didn’t have much to say aside from a few grunts.After the update, he’s now more talkative—not just in dialogue sequences, but also in combat.

I’ve already played 400 hours. I decided to start a new game to see the differences, and WOW, they’ve completely revamped the entire beginning! It feels like a different game, definitely with more guidance, but the story and the improvements make it much easier for newcomers.
The new cliff is also very well-received.Dream__Daeng writes, for example:“Kliff seems like a completely different character. I’m not used to him talking so much, but I think it’s great. Finally some character depth—thank goodness!”and has garnered over 1,200 upvotes.
Kliff shows more personality in his dialogue, and at times he even makes some really sharp comments. And even in battle, he’s no longer just silently beating away.Wonderful-Ad440 writes: “I’m only in Chapter 4 with about 300 hours, and I’ve noticed that he’s even trash-talking the whole time during combat now—I love it.”
Some players are now considering whether a fresh start is worth it for them. Those who haven’t put too much time into the open-world game yet—we’re talking 30 to 40 hours here—see the update as a good opportunity to start over from the beginning.
Others, however, who’ve already poured several hundred hours into the game, would rather pass and hope that an NG+ mode might be added soon. We’re actually closer to that than they might think.
If you’ve already completed all the main quests, Pearl Abyss has a new feature for you that comes pretty close to NG+: “A feature has been added that allows you to carry over and use the currencies and Abyss Links obtained in existing save files when starting a new game.”
