Swinging through New York with Spider-Man from a first-person perspective? A mod makes it possible – and requires a strong stomach.

Before you read this news and watch the accompanying video, we want to give a little warning: Your stomach may eventually speak up or you may reconsider your decision to ever become like the real Spider-Man.

The reason for this is buried in a mod for Marvel”s Spider-Man. It adds a first-person view to the actual third-person action adventure that really packs a punch – and is definitely not for players who struggle with motion sickness.

This is how Spider-Man swings from the first-person view

This mod comes from (YouTuber and modder jedijosh920), who goes into detail about all kinds of modifications for Marvel”s Spider-Man on his channel. His latest creation is a first person perspective or as he calls it a realistic First Person, which he was considering for a sequel.

But the mod doesn”t just change the camera position exclusively, it also tracks Spider-Man”s head movements. This creates quite a trip that makes you nauseous even without VR functionality:

What quickly becomes clear: Marvel”s Spider-Man would not be really playable from a first-person point of view Fight scenes were probably deliberately left out However, there is another possibility to implement a first-person perspective. This also comes from jedijosh920 and works entirely without head tracking:

If you want to try out the perspective for yourself on the basis of the videos, you will have to be patient. So far the mod has not been released, but that could change in the near future.

What”s next for Spider-Man?

Presumably without a first-person perspective, Spider-Man won”t be hunting down criminals again until 2023 at the earliest: Insomniac Games is currently working on a second part, which has only been announced for the PlayStation 5 for the time being.

However, PC players will probably be able to return to New York for a second time this year. According to Sony, the stand-alone expansion Miles Morales will be released for the PC in autumn 2022 and this time, true to its name, will let you slip into a different Spider-Man protagonist.

Spider-Man from the first-person perspective: Did you also have a sinking feeling in your stomach when watching the game or did you feel like experiencing it yourself? Feel free to write us your opinion in the comments!
