In early September, the Eidolon—a new, extremely dangerous faction that strikes from the shadows—will be coming your way. The expansion costs around 30 euros.
Another DLC for Sins of a Solar Empire 2 will be released early next month. It’s called Harbinger and will be available starting September 3, 2026.
According to Stardock, you’ll face the greatest threat you’ve ever had to confront: the Eidolon.
Game Mechanics and the Eidolon Corruption System
“The Eidolon do not fight for planets, trade routes, culture, or wealth,” according to official sources. “They prefer to operate behind the scenes, spreading corruption to every corner. Their advanced technology shrouds entire worlds in darkness to fuel their unstoppable advance. They strike brutally from the shadows with cloaked fleets, forcing all other empires to fight for their very survival under entirely new conditions.”
The Eidolon’s playstyle is built entirely on corruption, secrecy, and absolute control. Once populations fall under their influence, corruption on their planets rises continuously. Once a world has completely fallen, you can shroud it. This unlocks a massive number of new upgrades for the planet.
Corruption both strengthens and weakens Eidolon units. If an Eidolon ship accumulates corruption in battle, it loses hull integrity. At the same time, however, it deals much heavier damage. Enemy units can also become infected.
Furthermore, the Eidolons possess Zero Weapons that completely disable enemy shields and directly infect opponents with Corruption. They also feature cloaked ships, psionic abilities, and more.
