The shop-based RPG will exit Early Access in early September. To coincide with the announcement, the first game is currently available for free on Steam, along with a new demo.
The release date for Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault has been set. On September 2, 2026, the game will exit Early Access and launch for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The game will also be added to the Xbox Game Pass subscription right at launch.
To celebrate the announcement, you can currently grab the predecessorfor free on Steam—you have until August 9, 2026, to do so, and you’ll be able to keep the game afterward. In addition, a demo for Moonlighter 2 is available on all platforms.
Gameplay and New Content in Version 1.0
The game follows the same formula as its predecessor, letting you battle numerous monsters in dungeons. You then sell the loot you’ve collected in your own shop. You find yourself stranded in the remote village of Tresna and must first get back on your feet and rebuild everything from scratch.
Version 1.0, released at the end of Early Access, introduces new weapons, armor, and the “Bomb Path.” This combat ability causes enemies to explode after taking enough hits—and in doing so, they also deal damage to nearby enemies.
At the same time, protagonist Will’s shop reaches its final stage, giving you even more space and cosmetic customization options, for example.
Post-Game Challenges and Hardcore Mode
If you want to keep playing after the story ends, you can look forward to a new post-game challenge: the Infinite Endless Vault. This is designed to put even the most experienced traders to the test. There’s also a Hardcore Mode, which resets you to the beginning of a dungeon if you fail along the way.
