The samurai RPG, published by Owlcat Games, is set to release in November for PC. A Steam demo is already available, letting players experience tactical rōnin battles.
The tactical RPG Shadow of the Road from developer Another Angle Games has a release date and will launch on November 12, 2026, for PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store).
The game is published by Owlcat Games, and you can already try it out via a demo on Steam.
To mark the announcement of the release date, a new trailer was also released, showcasing some of the obstacles and challenges that await you in the game:
Tactical battles, combos, and Yōkai transformations
“The group of protagonists in Shadow of the Road was brought together by fate: former samurai, vassals of the Shōgun, a mysterious child, his mother, and her bodyguard,” it says.
“On their journey through war-torn Japan, they encounter various types of enemies: bandits, imperial soldiers, and supernatural creatures, all of whom are doing their best to send our protagonists to the afterlife. To prevent this and master the tactical combat, players must carefully develop their characters, unlock and upgrade abilities, and then deploy them on the battlefield—even triggering powerful combos.”
On top of that, you can use the environment to turn the area into a deadly weapon. If all else fails, you have the option to transform into a Yōkai to deal maximum damage.
The Story: Rōnin, Honor, and a Dangerous Mission
The game’s story revolves around the Tokugawa’s master of espionage hiring the two rōnin, Satoru and Akira, to protect a boy who possesses immense, uncontrollable powers.
As the game progresses, other characters with their own stories and motivations join them. Together, they face ever-greater dangers, attempt to restore their honor, and try to change the outcome of the war.
