Capcom is bringing three of its Resident Evil remakes to Nintendo’s new console. You won’t have to wait much longer.
Capcom is bringing three more Resident Evil games to the Nintendo Switch 2. The remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 have been announced for Nintendo’s latest console.
All three will be released digitally on October 16, 2026. Physical editions are set to follow in January 2027.
The expansions are also included
The Switch 2 versions also include the respective DLCs for the three remakes. For Resident Evil 4, this includes, among other things, “Separate Ways,” in which you experience the events from Ada Wong’s perspective.
No special features or major technical changes specific to Nintendo Switch 2 were mentioned in the announcement. In terms of content, the releases thus appear to largely correspond to the already familiar versions for other platforms.
Nintendo fans who have missed out on the three remakes so far will finally get to enjoy some of the most important Resident Evil games of recent years. Resident Evil 2 sends Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield through zombie-infested Raccoon City, while Resident Evil 3 picks up the story surrounding Jill Valentine and Nemesis.
Resident Evil 4 takes Leon to Europe a few years later and differs significantly in gameplay from its two predecessors. The remake retains the original’s more action-oriented core concept but extensively revamps combat, levels, and numerous other elements.
The Resident Evil lineup on Switch 2 continues to grow
Capcom has now established a fairly broad presence for the series on Nintendo Switch 2. Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil Requiem are already available natively for the console. With these three remakes, the lineup is now expanding to include additional key titles in the series.
Some other titles in the series do not yet have their own Switch 2 versions. These include Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 5, and Resident Evil 6. However, thanks to backward compatibility, their Switch versions can also be played on Nintendo’s new console.
Resident Evil Veronica is also coming to the Switch 2
And Capcom isn’t done with its remakes yet. The company has already announced its next remake: Resident Evil Veronica. This reimagining of Resident Evil Code: Veronica is set to be released in 2027 and has also been confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2.
