JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R

(Genre: Action – Developer: Bandai Namco – Release: Fall 2022)

This beat ’em up is based on the manga JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and is a completely revamped version of the original game from 2013. You fight with 50 characters from the work of Japanese artist Hirohiko Araki.

The new game is said to offer 6 different game modes and features enhanced gameplay. Among other things, the fighting speed has been adjusted, and hit stops and quick jumps for dodging have been added. Of course, there are also a lot of new combos, and you can also customise your characters with skins.

Gundam Evolution

(Genre: Hero Shooter – Developer: Bandai Namco Online – Release: 2022)

Gundam Evolution is a free2play first-person shooter based on the eponymous Japanese sci-fi universe Gundam, which centres on humanoid robots controlled by humans.

You also take control of these mobile suits in Gundam Evolution and fight in action-packed six-against-six battles for various targets. You can choose different units with unique abilities and characteristics to adapt to the conditions of the battle.

You can also cover short distances extremely quickly using an auxiliary drive and occasionally activate a powerful ability that depends on the unit you choose. You should be able to use both to your tactical advantage to outplay your opponents.

The DioField Chronicle

(Genre: Tactical RPG – Developer: Square Enix – Release: 2022)

The DioField Chronicle tactical role-playing game is said to offer a deep story with many characters. The detailed environments of the island DioField are inspired by fantasy, medieval and modern influences.

In the tactical real-time battles you have to play to the strengths of your units in order to win. You also have to use classes, skills and equipment skilfully. A new battle system is also included, which is supposed to require a lot of strategic thinking.

TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection

(Genre: Various – Developer: Various – Release: 2022)

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection is not a new game, but a collection of 13 older games based around the well-known turtles. These are from the days of arcades, the Nintendo Entertainment System, the Super NES, the Sega Genesis and the Nintendo Gameboy, so there is a lot of nostalgia in the game.

The games have been optimised for modern systems and additional features have been added. Some games now have online and local multiplayer. There are also new game modes, HD textures, button mapping and additional media content.

Valkyrie Elysium

(Genre: Action Role-Playing Game – Developer: Soleil Ltd. – Release: 2022)

As Valkyrie and messenger of the Norse god Odin, you must once again save the world in the next part of the Valkyrie series. In the process, all kinds of enemies, from humans to dragons and other monsters, stand in your way.

You defeat them with the special attacks and combos known from the series, which are combined into a new combat system in Elysium. In addition, the so-called Einherjar – recruitable warriors – help you in battle. In Valkyrie Elysium you will experience an epic story around Ragnarok, the end of the world, and travel through beautiful environments.

Exoprimal

(Genre: Action – Developer: Capcom – Release: 2023)

Today’s forecast: Heavy dinosaur rain. In Exoprimal, you face off as a five-player team against hordes of raptors and other dinos that pour out of strange portals onto the earth. Of course, classics like the Triceratops and the T-Rex are also included.

You fight in various exo-suits that fulfil classic roles: For example, there is a bulky suit that can take a lot of punishment, a melee fighter, and a suit of armour equipped with many weapons that can mow down whole droves of enemies.

Exoprimal is primarily a co-op game, but also contains competitive elements: For two teams are always sent to fight the primeval threat, and only one of them can survive.

If you like fighting giant primeval beasts, you should also take a look at Instinction:

Trailers for well-known games

In addition to the new announcements, Sony’s State of Play also featured a number of new trailers for previously announced games, which you can see here

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin

(Genre: Action Role-Playing Game – Developer: Team Ninja – Release: 18 March 2022)

Stranger of Paradise aims to rethink the Final Fantasy series and offer a new vision. In the dark action role-playing game, we as the protagonist Jack must save the kingdom of Cornelia from the villain Chaos.

A group of five heroes accompanies and supports us on our mission. In the short gameplay trailer, which was released on the occasion of the State of Play, we mainly see battle scenes. If you want to see more moving images of the game, then take a look at this trailer.

Ghostwire: Tokyo

(Genre: Action-Adventure – Developer: Tango Gameworks – Release: 25 March 2022)

Ghostwire: Tokyo may not be a pure horror game, but it will always be scary. In the action adventure by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, you travel to Japan. There you investigate the causes of a mysterious mass disappearance, behind which supernatural forces are probably at work.

We have already seen an hour of gameplay from the new IP of the publisher Bethesda and were very surprised by the action-packed battles.

Forspoken

(Genre: Action-Adventure – Developer: Square Enix – Release: Oct 11, 2022)

As an ordinary New Yorker, we are unexpectedly transported to a dark fantasy world in Forspoken. There she learns to use magical powers and fights all kinds of monsters and dangerous creatures with them. For the world of Athia is threatened by an all-destroying corruption and as protagonists we naturally want to help the inhabitants.

In the new trailer we also see our heroine fighting a dragon. It’s the magic she uses to do this that particularly excited us in a developer presentation – more than the Open World:

Forspoken: The open world arouses curiosity, but the magic blows us away

Gigabash

(Genre: Action – Developer: Passion Republic Games – Release: 2022)

In Gigabash, you become a giant, city-destroying monster, or go up against one with a mecha. In four-player arenas, you compete against each other either in two teams or without any allies at all and fight your way virtually through destructible environments. Those who cause a lot of chaos can then develop into an even stronger form.

In the trailer, the developers show their latest monstrosity: Rawa, the fire-breathing Dragon King.

Trek to Yomi

(Genre: Action-Adventure – Developer: Flying Wild Hog – Release: 2022)

In Trek to Yomi, you play the young swordsman Hiroki, who has sworn to his dying master to protect his city and loved ones against all dangers.

The action adventure promises a presentation in the style of classic samurai films, which also explains the presentation in black and white. You will experience a story about failure and redemption, fighting against humans and supernatural beings with the traditional weapons of a samurai.

The new trailer reveals more about the story of Trek to Yomi, but also shows the brutal fights of the samurai adventure.
