The rumour mill is bubbling. The next Nintendo Direct is expected to be released in February and will provide more insight on Kirby, Splatoon, Xenoblade and supposedly Mario Kart 9.

Earlier this week, leaker Samus Hunter mentioned that a new edition of the Nintendo Direct will air in February. Because big titles like the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild have been announced for this year, fans are eagerly awaiting new information.

The Nintendo Direct is scheduled to start later this month. In addition to leaker Samus Hunter, who has already made a name for himself as a reliable source, leaker Zippo also confirms that the video game giant has a lot to report. In addition to new information, the long-awaited Mario Kart 9 is also supposedly waiting in the wings. However, this hint should be taken with a grain of salt.

“If you have Super Bowl-sized money bets on this new Mario Kart not being real, you’re going to lose a lot of money,” reads the short and sweet statement from Zippo. There remains no further explanation to the statement. In general, a release of the fun racer in the near future would be questionable. While it was almost eight years ago when Mario Kart 8 was first released for the Wii U, sales figures for the deluxe version on the Nintendo Switch are among the bestsellers every month. Accordingly, from a business perspective, a release this year would not be expected, especially as long as the game sells well. Zippo, meanwhile, is not considered the most reliable source – unlike Samus Hunter.

Among other things, Samus Hunter continues to fuel the rumour mill about a new Xenoblade title. The developer Monolith Soft is said to be already moving forward with the new game, which is said to be the third part of the Xenoblade Chronicles series. In addition, according to the leaker, a Pokémon Present and a Splatoon 3 Direct are planned for the spring. Similarly, Fire Emblem Heroes and Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak are also planned.

News about Breath of the Wild 2, on the other hand, is missing among the leakers. The release of the new Zelda title is, however, scheduled for 2022 as before. This can be seen in the (Nintendo quarterly report from 3 February). There is also an entry for the title Metroid Prime 4, which, however, does not contain a year specification.

In the last Nintendo Direct to date from September 2021, Bayonetta 3 was also announced for this year. Accordingly, we can also expect new images of the famous witch. Meanwhile, the release of Kirby and the Forgotten Land is already set for 25 March 2022. Thus, in the event of a Direct, further information should emerge directly before the official launch of the new adventure game. A release date for Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp can also be expected.

Presentations in February are not uncommon at Nintendo. In recent years, Nintendo has regularly reported on upcoming games and provided new information in one of the first three months. On 17 February 2021, a presentation of this kind also took place. That’s why a new Nintendo Direct in the coming weeks would be anything but surprising, especially since no new information has been revealed for almost five months – with the exception of Indie World in December.
