A new update that improves the game’s performance? Nope. Still, it’s worth taking a look at the patch’s release notes.

Gearbox has released a new update for Borderlands 4. The patch will be automatically downloaded and installed via Steam.

The list of changes and fixed bugs is so short that we won’t put it on a second page as usual, but will present it to you in its unabridged version right away.

First, some important information: No, the patch does not change the performance. Borderlands 4 is still a poorly optimized shooter whose graphics are out of proportion to its hardware requirements, as our tuning guide shows.

Better stability and weekly variety

The patch focuses primarily on open-world activities designed to keep fans entertained in the endgame.

Both the wildcard missions and the Big Encore Boss now change on a weekly basis. In addition, Maurice’s black market machine will always be in a different location so that players don’t get bored.

The rest of the patch deals with some crash causes, which should now be eliminated.
Furthermore, weapons from the Gilded Glory Pack category no longer appear in standard chests.

The complete release notes

Stability

  • Addressed crashes tied to animation states, audio, and collision checks
  • Addressed various GPU-related crashes

Gameplay & Progression

  • Resolved an issue where the Reward Center could stop working after claiming the Gilded Glory Pack rewards
  • Addressed a progression blocker in the mission “Talk to Zadra,” where the objective could fail if players exited and relaunched mid-dialogue
  • Corrected “Doesn’t own DLC” warnings incorrectly showing up on non-DLC gear
    • This will be fixed on consoles in the coming days.

Loot & Items

  • Updated loot pools so Gilded Glory Pack guns no longer appear in standard chests

There you have it in black and white: Performance is unlikely to improve in the coming days. Nevertheless, we already have some tips for you on how to get the most out of your system in Borderlands 4. Feel free to check out the tuning guide linked above.
After all, Gearbox has already announced that it intends to optimize performance with future patches. However, there is no specific date for the next update yet.
