This week’s new PC games bring supplies for construction, survival and action fans. Included are Back 4 Blood and The Riftbreaker.

The October 2021 games season continues unabated: This week again, tons of new releases land on Steam and Co. So that you don’t lose the overview, we pick out the most exciting new PC games for you, as we do every week!

This time, the wish lists of strategy fans are likely to get longer, as the exciting genre mix The Riftbreaker is being released. But with Back 4 Blood there’s also a real action thriller, especially if you’re into co-op.

Highlight of the week: Back 4 Blood

Strictly speaking, Back 4 Blood is not an official successor to Left 4 Dead – but you can definitely tell that the co-op shooter comes from the same creators. You go out with a few friends, slash your way through hordes of zombies and work your way from Saveroom to Saveroom.

At the start, there are eight different characters to choose from, all of whom have special skills. Holly, for example, is particularly tough and automatically gives her comrades more stamina. To survive, you have to put together a well-balanced team – the new game cards are supposed to bring more variety.

They give you certain advantages and disadvantages for the next game. If you want, you can use a prefabricated deck, but strategists can also put together their own collection from which they can then draw. How exactly this works and what else Back 4 Blood has to offer.

The most important PC releases of the week from 11 to 15 October

From Monday, 11 October 2021

Book of Travels: An MMO that focuses on calm instead of cluttered chaos. Book of Travels is more about actually playing a role, less about status values and skills. Because the world is so big, you should rarely meet other players. Sounds like an exciting experiment! For now, it’s off to Early Access.

Settlement Survival: A city builder inspired by Banished. You build medieval settlements and have to survive historical catastrophes such as the plague.

Eternium: Dungeon crawler meets oldschool role-playing game. You choose one of three classes and go on the hunt for the sharpest sword and the thickest armour.

From Tuesday, 12 October 2021

Back 4 Blood: We have already described this above, if you want to read it again.

Grim Nights 2: Pixelated survival game with randomly generated maps and NPCs. Developed by a single person

From Wednesday, 13 October 2021

Junkyard Simulator: You’re really into junk? Then check out this simulation where you take apart old cars and (hopefully) get rich doing it.

Lumione: Underwater platformer visually reminiscent of Ori and the Blind Forest.

Midnight Protocol: Tactical role-playing game in which you play a hacker who wages a digital war. Should offer dozens of side missions in addition to the main quest and give you a lot of freedom

From Thursday, 14 October 2021

The Riftbreaker: This game throws construction, survival and action into a bubbling pot and cooks up an exciting genre mix. Huge alien hordes lurk outside your base, and you have to fight them alone

Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality: Licensed adventure featuring the Tenth and Thirteenth Doctors. Be prepared for Daleks and Weeping Angels

Chasing Static: Fancy a short horror trip to Wales? Then take a look at Chasing Static, an adventure game in which you’ll experience the sudden

The Alien Cube: Horror again, this time inspired by Lovecraft. Looks very chic thanks to CryEngine

From Friday, October 15, 2021

The Good Life: Hard to describe, it’s a mix of Deadly Premonition and Animal Crossing. You’re a journalist in debt who can turn into animals

Infra Space: Build up, but this time in a sci-fi setting. All resources have to be transported properly before you can use them in your space colony

Looking for an overview of all the exciting games coming out in October 2021? Then we have the right videos for you!

Anything for you this week? Do you have another exciting game on your radar that deserves a place in this list? We’d love to read your thoughts in the comments!
