Corsair Cove leads what might be the strongest release week of the summer on Steam.

Summer isn’t usually considered peak season on Steam. This week, however, there’s little sign of that: With a major Halo remake, a standalone Company of Heroes roguelite, several co-op and party games, a Souls-like extraction shooter, and a number of ambitious indie titles, one of the strongest release weeks of the summer so far is on the horizon.

Leading this unusually packed lineup isCorsair Cove. This German-developed building game lets you construct a pirate stronghold on a deserted island, complete with production lines and your own fleet—and it’s already receiving rave reviews even before its release. The demo currently boasts a 90 percent positive rating, suggesting that fans of building games might be in for a real hidden gem this week.

As we do every Monday, we’ve rounded up all the major new releases on Steam for you.

This Week’s Highlight: Corsair Cove

Genre: Building Simulation –Developer: Limbic Entertainment –Release Date: July 31, 2026 (Steam)

In the building game Corsair Cove, you wash up on a deserted tropical island and, bit by bit, turn it into a pirate stronghold.

That means:harvesting resources, setting up production chains, keeping the crew happy, and eventually building a fleet capable of taking on the Crown. Your pirates, however, aren’t undemanding workers who silently haul crates—they have needs that you must meet through your supply chains. Anyone who neglects rum production will quickly find that out.

The game is being developed by Limbic Entertainment in Langen, Hesse—a studio that has already proven its expertise in building and management twice over withTropico 6andPark Beyond. The publisher is Hooded Horse, which has released titles such as E Manor LordsE and E Against the StormE in recent years.

There is one point of contention, however: Naval battles do not take place in real time, but rather via a map-and-dice system. On the Steam forums, this is by far the most discussed issue, while the city-building aspect itself receives hardly any criticism.

By the way, you can try it out right away: Thedemohas been available since the end of May and has since collected 767 ratings, 90 percent of which are positive. Corsair Cove will also be released on the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store and will be available on PC Game Pass from day one.

  • Forsaken Realms: Vahrin’s Call:As a mercenary in this action RPG, you travel to the besieged city of Vahrin, which is overrun by insect-like creatures, and define your playstyle entirely on your own: light-footed archer, trapper, alchemist, or heavy axe fighter—all without classes.

  • Prelude Dark Pain (Early Access):For tacticians with a penchant for dark fantasy: As Soren the blacksmith, you lead a rebellion and send out squads of up to five heroes into turn-based battles where abilities build on one another. The Early Access launch includes the first act, offering about 15 hours of gameplay, nine heroes, and 63 skills; the developers plan to spend about a year in this phase. The demo has an 84 percent positive rating, which is a solid foundation.

    • Halo: Campaign Evolved:25 years after the original, the shooter that defined an entire generation of consoles is getting a remake in Unreal Engine 5, complete with newly recorded cutscenes and three additional prequel missions. Important: This is exclusively the campaign; there’s no competitive multiplayer, but there is online co-op for up to four players with cross-play. Split-screen is reserved for consoles; PC players are out of luck. Reviews have been out since July 23 and are solid, though not outstanding. Ironically, the PC version scores 77 on Metacritic, which is clearly below the Xbox version. You can read our review here:

    • Sir, We Have an Orc Problem:Tower Defense, but with physics simulation and tens of thousands of orcs flooding your defensive line. You place towers, upgrade them, and call in bombing runs, orbital lasers, and—if all else fails—a nuke, while each run unlocks permanent upgrades. At the Steam Next Fest in June, the demo attracted over 3,000 concurrent players.

    • Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand:Note: This is not DLC and certainly not a sequel to the series, but a standalone roguelite based on CoH 3. Play alone or in co-op with a friend as you hold your ground against twelve increasingly difficult waves, featuring bosses, battlefield events, and permanent upgrades between runs. Base building, resource gathering, and sector control have been removed.

    • Machine Party:Thursday’s secret star comes from Mike Klubnika, the mastermind behind the viral indie hit Buckshot Roulette. In teams of two to four, you’ll compete against each other in 15 party games: reflex tests alternate with decision-making and trust games, all set to an industrial soundtrack.

    • How Many Dudes? :Do you remember the internet debate about how many men it takes to defeat a gorilla? That’s exactly what this roguelike autobattler is based on—you assemble a squad from 42 characters across six factions, ranging from the undead to sci-fi, and hope for some brutal synergies.

    • The Ranchers (Early Access):If you prefer a more laid-back experience, you can buy land, raise animals, grow crops, build machines, and start a family on the side. Unlike many other games in the genre, the whole experience takes place in an open world with mines and monsters, and up to four players can manage their farm together in co-op.

    • Mistfall Hunter:Extraction shooter meets Soulslike: As a Gyldhunter, you venture into mist-shrouded ruins, battle your way through monsters and enemy players in a third-person perspective, and must make it out alive with your loot. Six classes, three-player co-op, cross-play with PS5 and Xbox, and—according to the developer—no pay-to-win mechanics.

    • SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed: The sequel to one of the most popular indie multiplayer platformers of the 2010s sends up to eight players through tight levels using grappling hooks, while the viewable area mercilessly shrinks, weeding out stragglers.

What’s at the top of your list? And specifically regarding Corsair Cove: Does the card- and die-based naval combat bother you, or is the building aspect more important to you? Let us know in the comments!
