This week many new PC games will be released on Steam. Including: A strategy heavyweight and perhaps the best Soulslike of the year after Elden Ring.

Last week there was a lot of action on Steam, because with Marvel”s Spider-Man Remastered and Farthest Frontier two of the most anticipated games of the summer of 2022 were released. But there are some exciting new releases waiting for you on Steam again this week.

Including: numerous building games, a new Dark Souls competitor and one of the most interesting strategy games of the summer.

Highlight of the Week: Regiments

(Genre: Strategy – Developer: Bird”s Eye Games – Release: August 16, 2022)

MicroProse was a real institution for good strategy and building games in the 1990s: Big names like Civilization, X-COM, Master of Orion and Rollercoaster Tycoon appeared under the Australian company”s flag.

After its inglorious end in 2003, MicroProse was re-founded in 2019 and aims to re-establish itself as a publisher of strategy, building and simulation games and has some exciting projects in development. Regiments is the first major hopeful to be released this week.

What is it about? Regiments is set in an alternative reality in which the Cold War has escalated in 1989 and Germany becomes the scene of battles between NATO and the Warsaw Pact.

As a pure single-player game, the focus here is on the story campaign, in which you will experience the events of the fictional Third World War from different perspectives – the playable factions include West and East Germany, the USA, and the Soviet Union.

In the tactical battles, by the way, you command on a large scale. Instead of controlling each soldier individually, you command a complete regiment with thousands of soldiers. In addition, there are over 100 authentically reproduced vehicle models of iconic vehicles such as the Leopard 2, the T-72M and the M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle.
