A motion-capture entry reveals the first DC characters for Injustice 3—including a heroine who, according to comic book lore, is actually dead.
We now have further confirmation that a new Injustice game is in development. Following last week’s playtest leak, more information has surfaced. It reveals more about the upcoming DC fighting game.
Two characters for Injustice 3 leaked
Two characters from the game’s roster appeared in a stuntwoman’s resume. She has worked for developer NetherRealm in the past. As MP1st reports, Mackensi Emory’s resume contained direct references to Injustice 3. However, the page has since been updated, and all traces of the game have been removed.
The stuntwoman participated in the motion capture sessions for Injustice 3. Specifically, she portrayed the characters Supergirl and Batwoman. Supergirl’s appearance comes as little surprise, since she played a central role in the story of Injustice 2. Batwoman, on the other hand, is a real surprise.
This isn’t just Batwoman’s debut in an Injustice spin-off. Her appearance is particularly noteworthy because she’s actually dead in the Injustice universe. At least, Batwoman dies in the official comics, which are considered canon. MP1st aptly notes that games and comics regularly reference each other. So it would be extremely strange if the third installment suddenly broke with this continuity.
So how does this all fit together? In the world of superheroes, the resurrection of dead comic book characters is far from impossible. But perhaps someone else is simply stepping into Batwoman’s costume—a popular comic book trope for bringing a character back.
It’s also important to remember: The upcoming title might not continue the story of the first two games at all. It could be a complete timeline reset, introducing us to entirely new versions of the iconic DC heroes and villains.
Furthermore, Emory’s resume confirms that animator and stunt coordinator Jake Huang is also working on the project. He previously collaborated with NetherRealm on *Mortal Kombat 1*.
*Injustice 3* hasn’t been officially announced yet, and, understandably, there’s no release date either. However, looking at NetherRealm’s development pace so far, we expect a release in 2027 (the studio’s last project was Mortal Kombat 1 in 2023). Could an announcement at The Game Awards in December be possible? We’ll just have to wait and see.
