The development studio behind the legendary strategy series will soon unveil the next installment.
People are coming to the castle!
If you love building castles—especially in Stronghold—you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled. The development team at Firefly has officially announced that a brand-new Stronghold will be revealed soon!
On June 7 at the PC Gaming Showthe real-time strategy game will be officially announced. So far, nothing from the game has been shown. But at least there’s a first teaser trailer in which studio head Nick Tannahill previews the project:
What kind of game will it be?
Officially, nothing is known about the new game yet—except that it is being developed using Unreal Engine 5.Most recently, the Stronghold development team had focused primarily on remastering the original games, namely Stronghold and Stronghold: Crusader.
It’s natural to assume that the next release will be aremaster or remake of Stronghold 2. But that’s not guaranteed. Especially since the announcement sounds more like it’s a completely new game, and honestly, hardly any fans really loved the games that came after Crusader.
Another point in favor of a new game is that the developer poses the question of the setting in the video. This leads to some rather adventurous suggestions, such asfantasy, post-apocalypse, sci-fi, or ancient Rome.
After all, there was already a (terribly bad) fantasy Stronghold as well as a (passable) Stronghold set in Asia. But do fans really crave such exotic settings? We doubt it a bit. Or maybe Tannahill is just pulling our leg.& nbsp; After all, the video still features medieval sounds, and there’s a medieval castle in the background.
