The German fantasy role-playing game Fatekeeper launches today in Early Access. We’ll explain our review schedule and why we won’t be able to provide a rating at launch.

Today at 7 p.m. the gates open to a new, dark fantasy world from Germany.Fatekeeperlaunches in theSteam Early Accesson PC.

Anyone who has been waiting a long time for a visually appealing replacement for the close-quarters combat in Skyrim and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic has surely had their eye on the action RPG from the Bavarian studio Paraglacial for quite some time, especially because of its immersive first-person perspective.

But if you’re still hesitating to buy it and are looking for reviews and ratings ahead of the June 2, 2026 release, you’ll be disappointed right now.Why is that?

Admission Only at Official Opening

The reason for the delay this time isn’t due to a lack of copies or even a testing lock by publisher THQ Nordic. It’s simply a matter of timing. The developers are sending outthe Fatekeeper review keys only today on release day, likely just a few hours before the launch at 7 p.m.

The Fatekeeper keys won’t work before then, and there’s no preload available either. For us, that means we can’t jump into the fray until tonight, just like you.But a thorough review takes time. That means, as per the usual GlobalESportNews buying advice: You’ll have to wait a little longer.

An ambitious mix of Skyrim and Dark Messiah

The wait might be worth it, though.Fatekeeper promises a fascinating blend. The game combines the dense atmosphere of Skyrim with the brutal, physical intensity of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.

The developers, many of whom previously worked on Spellforce 3, are fully committed to the Unreal Engine 5. You won’t be facing a massive open-world behemoth, but rather a focused hub structure with a playtime of 15 to 20 hours in the full version. However, the Early Access release currently only includes content for two hours.

Compared to other RPG mechanics, the combat system is clearly the focus in Fatekeeper. You’ll trap orcs in spike traps, use telekinesis, and sever limbs.Found itemscan be equipped manually, and you’ll also unlock abilities like spells using talent points.

Our schedule for the coming days

Even under these challenging circumstances, we want to provide you with a thorough Early Access review. To that end, we’ll install the version today at 7 p.m. and check the scope and technical condition of the game.

If everything goes according to plan,we will publish our review on June 3 or June 4 at the latest.

The Fatekeeper review will come as soon as possible, but with the necessary thoroughness. Until then, you can get a first look for yourselves starting tonight or leave your questions about the game in the comments. Or simply let us know whether you’re more excited about Fatekeeper or the Gothic Remake, which is coming out the same week!
