The Gothic Remake has now received its third update, which includes various important bug fixes. Once again, annoying quest blockers are the main focus.
TheGothic Remakewas released in early June, but the developers aren’t done yet. The remake—which is otherwise well-executed—still suffers from technical issues; in particular, quest blockers and crashes remain a major annoyance, which also led to a lower rating for the remake in the GameStar review. However, Patch 1.0.3, which is available now, resolves some of these issues.
What’s in Patch 1.0.3?
We’ll briefly summarize the most important changes in the update for you right here. The full patch notes directly from developer Alkimia Interactive can be found on page 2 of the article.
- The game’s overall stability has been improved, and various causes of crashes have been fixed.
- NPCs no longer teleport away right before your eyes.
- Guild membership is now correctly assigned when loading a save file.
- Large creatures now navigate the world more effectively.
- Facial animations have been improved in some areas.
- There are several bug fixes for specific quests, including
The Focus Stones
,The Trial by Fire
,and the quest to increase your Ranger rank with the mercenaries. - Various general improvements that could have caused quest blockers or hindered progress.
That’s it for the most important changes; as mentioned at the beginning, all details can be found in the full patch notes from Alkimia Interactive on page 2.
Currently, the developers of the Gothic Remake are still focusing entirely on bug fixes and balance changes; there haven’t been any major improvements or new features yet. But fans are already stepping up to fill the gap. For example, someone has already created a handy fast-travel menu that integrates perfectly into the game—you can read more about it in the box above.
