The tabletop version of Cyberpunk is being expanded with a massive new rulebook. In it, we experience the metropolis as it looked before the events of 2077.
Night City 2045 is coming– and with it, a major expansion for the Cyberpunk RED pen-and-paper role-playing game, which was written in parallel withCyberpunk 2077. Both are based on the Cyberpunk 2020 game system. So Night City 2045 contains more official lore, which will hopefully shorten the long wait for Orion. After all, there’s still very little information available about that.
Let’s take a look at what we know about Night City 2045. The best news first: The digital version is available now.
What exactly is Night City 2045?
It is a new, 312-page setting book for the tabletop RPG. The original rulebook from 1988 covered the 2020s, while the previous Core Book for Cyberpunk Red is set in the “Time of the Red,” which begins in 2023 following a devastating war and nuclear explosion in Night City.
New Lore:Of course, the new official background information on the individual districts, important figures, historical events, and so on is particularly exciting for Cyberpunk fans. It’s presented not only as text but also with plenty of images and maps.
The book covers 24 individual districts in detail. You’ll recognize many names from 2077: Kabuki, Santo Domingo, and so on. Of course, the corresponding gangs are included, and there are far more of them in the new book than in the video game. It features 44 gangs, plus six criminal organizations and 23 security services (in Night City, the differences are, of course, marginal).
How much does it cost?Asphysical book, Night City 2045 will cost you 52 euros. If you only want thePDF, it’s 26 euros. Both together cost 65 euros, as there’s an automatic discount on the PDF.
To play, you’ll need the core rules of the Cyberpunk RED game system. You can also find those in the Talsorian Store in physical or digital form. Free content is also released regularly, such as additional rules for cyberdrugs or special weapons. The creator of the pen-and-paper game, Mike Pondsmith, is also involved in the next Cyberpunk video game.
