Since its release in March, Pearl Abyss has been rolling out patches for Crimson Desert on a weekly basis. Now the developers are taking a short break—but the wait will be worth it.

Since the launch on March 19, South Korean developer Pearl Abyss has maintained an impressive pace. A whopping nine updates and hotfixes have already been released for the open-world RPG Crimson Desert.

So anyone who waited in vain for the usual patch last weekend now knows the reason: The developers have temporarily broken their extremely rapid update cycle.

But the delay has a very welcome reason:The upcoming update will be significantly more extensive than anything we’ve seen so far for the RPG.

Why the Patch Is Delayed

As Pearl Abyss announced on social media, the team is simplytaking more time to thoroughly test the new content. Testing and polishing are the top priorities to ensure the patch runs smoothly upon release.

The update was originally planned for last weekend but is now scheduled to be released sometime during the week of April 20–26. There isn’t a specific date yet, but we’ll keep you updated, of course.

What’s in the Huge Update

The list of new features is all the more extensive:Pearl Abyss isn’t just addressing minor details, but delivering substantial improvements and completely new features.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Difficulty Levels:If the battles have been too tough or too easy for you so far, you’ll be able to adjust the difficulty directly in the future.
  • Replayable Boss Battles:Have you just finished an epic boss battle and want to experience it again? After the update, that will be exactly what you can do.
  • New control presets:The update brings much-needed presets for mouse, keyboard, and controller.
  • Better inventory overview:Thanks to new category tabs, you should be able to sort and search your crammed inventory much more easily in the future.
  • Polished graphics:The developers are fine-tuning the details of distant landscapes. According to the studio, this is also why the update download will be noticeably larger than previous patches.
  • Returning enemies and new outfits:Enemy outposts will once again be populated by enemies (respawns), giving you more opportunities to farm and fight. On top of that, there are fresh outfits for your characters.

How about you? Are you still actively playing Crimson Desert? Have you already finished it? Or are you taking a break right now and waiting for exactly these kinds of convenience features and new challenges before diving back into the open world? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
