Server issues and failed login attempts have caused the launch of Diablo 4: Season 15 and the accompanying anniversary celebrations to fall through.
Yesterday, Diablo 4: Season 15 was supposed to launch on schedule—accompanied by a massive birthday party to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Diablo series. However, the massive update announced at BlizzCon 2026 has now been postponed because the planned launch was marred by login issues and overloaded servers. Numerous players reported login difficulties with Diablo 4 on the Blizzard forums (via Kotaku)
Overloaded Servers and Login Issues for Diablo 4 After BlizzCon
Things got worse and worse as the day went on. Blizzard addressed the complaints on the forum and promised to resolve the issue as soon as possible. The company also posted a statement on X:
We’re aware of an issue preventing some players from accessing Diablo IV. The team is actively investigating and working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
We appreciate your patience and will share another update as soon as we have more information.…

We are aware of an issue preventing some players from accessing Diablo 4. The team is currently investigating the issue and working to resolve it as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience, and we will keep you updated as soon as we have more information.
While Blizzard investigated the issues, the launch of Season 15, along with the anniversary celebrations, was postponed. It wasn’t until the middle of the night that Blizzard was able to give at least a partial all-clear:
The login issue has been resolved for players on both the Eternal and Seasonal realms. We are continuing to investigate the issue affecting Solo Self-Found (SSF); this mode remains unavailable for the time being. We will provide further updates as soon as they become available.
Diablo’s Birthday Was Meant to Be Nostalgic, but Caused Chaos and Bugs
Throughout release day, many players reported that they could only access the login error 3000008, or 3000006, when they tried to log in and launch the game. In addition, reports surfaced that some players apparently still had access to gold and unlocks on the Paragon Board from the previous season, which were supposed to have been reset.
However, some players were apparently able to enjoy the start of the new season without any issues. Due to the frequency of the difficulties encountered, Blizzard nevertheless felt compelled to postpone the season start entirely. Players who were already able to play will therefore likely have their progress reset to zero so that everyone can start at the same time.
The new season, titled “Hell’s Legacy,” introduces new story quests that bring back Horadrim Deckard Cain to celebrate Diablo’s 30th anniversary—Diablo 1 in Diablo 4, so to speak. As usual, endgame updates as well as balance and quality-of-life improvements are also included. Also being added permanently are so-called Legacy Uniques, a new type of rare and powerful item based on legendary relics of the past
.
Incidentally, the first Diablo was released on January 3, 1997, so the actual anniversary isn’t for a few months, even though the anniversary season is starting now.
