Daniel Brainbox has been working on his Voyager game for 13 years and has now reached another milestone.

The “Star Trek Voyager Game Project” (STVGP) by Daniel Korican, aka Brainbox, continues to make great progress. Just recently, he posted on his first shooter mechanics, he’s also showcasing his fully functional shuttles at .

But Daniel now shows in more detail in a new video that the famous Delta Flyer is capable of much more than just looping through space. And things really heat up.

Wing Commander from the Delta Flyer

Here, Daniel presents us with nonstop action from the Delta Flyer’s cockpit. For the first time, he’s filmed a clip featuring a full-scale space battle:

He fires homing torpedoes at enemy shuttles, which are blown to pieces in spectacular explosions, all while dodging enemy fire. An overlay showing shields, speed, and altitude is already visible, though it doesn’t seem to be functional yet.

But who’s going to be looking at the displays when there’s so much going on on the other side of the windshield? In the background, you can occasionally see the Voyager firing impulse beams from its phaser banks in various directions. And then it’s time to view the combat from a different perspective. For a quick pit stop, Daniel heads into the Voyager’s hangar.

While New Year’s Eve celebrations continue outside, Daniel first watches the spectacle from the bridge and fires off a few photon torpedoes himself. But you can feel the battle on the other decks of the Voyager as well.

Using the Astrometrics console, Daniel quickly demonstrates how to later zoom through the galaxy via warp jump. We’ll probably have to wait a bit longer to find out what else will be possible in the game. In the series, Seven of Nine’s workstation is primarily used for long-range navigation and finding safe flight paths, so there’s certainly plenty of room to incorporate everything from fun little features to core mechanics.

Later in the video, we’re back behind the controls of the Delta Flyer. Daniel floats away from the dock and once again pulls off some turbulent flight maneuvers. Now you also know what the Voyager looks like from directly above.

If you’re more interested in its inner workings, check out our report on Daniel’s Star Trek game. For that, he personally took us on a “little” tour of the room and provided further background information on this mammoth project.

STVGP started out as a faithful replica of the Voyager, but the plans also include actual gameplay mechanics with a single-player campaign featuring shooter sequences and, of course, space combat. A lot has already happened in 13 years of development, and there’s certainly more to come.
