The role-playing game from CD Projekt Red is becoming a real card game, and the developers have probably struck a nerve.

CD Projekt Red obviously knows a thing or two about successful Kickstarter campaigns for board games. The two board games for The Witcher have already raised millions on the crowdfunding platform in no time at all. Most recently, The Witcher: Legacy ended up with a whopping 10.4 million euros!

But it looks like the next project could even surpass this mark. On March 17the campaign for Cyberpunk 2077: Trading Card Gamewas launched on Kickstarter andhit like a militech bomb at Arasaka headquarters.

The original funding goal was torpedoed after just 5 minutes – after 24 hours the project was alreadythe most successful card game in Kickstarter history. A total of 8.5 million euros are currently in the account – but the campaign still has 29 days to go!

What’s inside the Cyberpunk card game

The idea of a card game for Cyberpunk has been around for a long time. The first time wehad an announcement about it was in 2019for you. In other words, before the role-playing game was even released. But now it’s finally becoming a reality.

By the way, this card game is not a purely digital one, as was the case with Gwent, for example.Cyberpunk: Trading Card Game will be released immediately as a haptic card game with booster packs and starter sets. Each booster pack contains 12 random cards, while the starter sets contain 43 cards for pre-built decks.

A game revolves around winning so-called gig cubes from your opponents by setting up a team and stealing their gigs. To play cards, Eddies are required as resource costs and legendary cards can also help. When hunting for gigs, you can also attack your opponent’s team.

Crowdfunding hits all targets

The design team behind the cyberpunk card game obviously didn’t expect the huge response. The card game blew through all of its stretch goals much faster than expected because there was simply so much interest from the community.

The initial stretch goals were around 3,000,000 euros, which was almost immediately exceeded. Then the developers could hardly keep up with raising new stretch goals. The latest stretch goal is currently being unlocked at 11.5 million euros.

The developers expect the first map sets to be delivered in 2026. Two delivery waves are planned, the first in the third quarter and the second in the fourth quarter.
