Hats off to you, Diablo fans! The legendary “Cow Level” is real, and getting there required solving a game-spanning puzzle.

That’s how fast things can happen: Just a moment ago, our colleague Fabiano was reporting that fans have been desperately searching for the alleged cow level in Diablo 4 for three years. And just like that, it’s actually been uncovered!

Anyone who never gave up faith in the Great Moo can now proudly pat themselves on the back and admire the community’s puzzle-solving efforts to find the hidden portal.

It’s real—and really well hidden

To unlock the Cow Level, you first have to power through a whole series of quests that span the main game and the expansions Vessel of Hatred and, now new, Lord of Hatred. We’ll link you to the relevantvideo guidesby YouTuber LoatheBurger.

It’s impressive that people managed this without guides—among other things, you have to knock down 666 cows, find and combine three rare items, sail to a secret island, solve a cow-day-of-the-week puzzle… And that’s where the cow level is located, which has only been accessible since the release of Lord of Hatred.

What’s in it? You can see that here in LoatheBurger’s gameplay video:

Lots of angry cows, unsurprisingly. Aside from that, not much—not yet, perhaps. OnRedditfans are currently debating whether Diablo 4’s cow level is simply simpler than those of its predecessors, or whether perhaps even more puzzle pieces will be added in a future expansion.

Could there be… multiple cow dimensions in the end?

So the speculation surrounding the cow level isn’t over, even though the biggest question has now been answered: Yes, it’s moo-tally true—the spotted bovine from Diablo 4 actually hides a secret.

You can read about what else is happening in the action RPG and what the current expansion has to offer in the linked articles above.
