What’s actually going on with DMZ? If you’re asking yourself this question, an insider has some bad news for you

Next week, on December 6, the time has finally come: The first season in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 starts and so Warzone continues. However, what will happen to DMZ, the extraction mode, is still written in the stars and, according to an insider, the prospects are not particularly good

No DMZ in Season 1?

Insider gives little hope: @TheGhostOfHope is a well known CoD insider and stated in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that no new content is expected for DMZ:

According to Hope “the mode is dead for the developers “ The missions will be reset one last time and then support will end. So there will be no more new content

What was DMZ again? It’s an extraction mode in which you have to complete missions and collect equipment on various maps solo or in a team.

The aim is to successfully escape from the maps with the loot. However, in addition to AI opponents, there are also other players against whom you have to compete.

For DMZ fans, there is also the new zombie mode.

What is the official status?

The last announcement regarding DMZ was made on October 2, 2023 via the official X account of Call of Duty:

The developers affirm that they want to continue supporting DMZ, even if there was no concrete information. However, it has been announced that new details will be revealed in the run-up to the first season of MW 3.

It is therefore currently difficult to say what will happen with DMZ. At the start of the first season, Urzikstan will become the new Warzone map and replace the old maps.

Whether DMZ will then be decoupled and function as a completely independent mode or remain playable in Warzone itself is unknown

With DMZ, Activision tried to build on the success of extraction shooters such as Escape from Tarkov. However, similar to Battlefield 2042 and Hazard Zone, it never really caught on with the community. Have you played DMZ mode or are you still actively doing so? What could be the reason for the end of support? Let us know in the comments:
