The second season for Warzone 2 and MW2 is here, but has a mixed reception among players. While some are celebrating the new map, others are struggling with technical problems.

Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 is finally here and brings new game modes, a new map and new weapons. However, the community is not unanimous as to whether the update is a successful expansion or a flop.

You can watch the trailer for the new season here for now:

Divided opinion

Known CoD insider and content creator ModernWarzone asked his followers if the new Season was more of a Win (W) or a Lose (L). With 64 percent of fans satisfied, the picture is still relatively positive. Especially since over 55,000 users have already voted:

On Steam, players are somewhat less satisfied: On the release day of the second season, i.e. 15 February, the game received 493 positive reviews, but also 457 negative reviews. In the reviews of 16 February so far, the negative opinions are even slightly higher.

Of course, it must be noted that these are only first impressions. Season 2 has only just been released, so much remains to be seen in the long term – but the opinions so far are interesting nonetheless.

What the pros say

The new map Ashika Island currently receives the most praise. However, ModernWarzone recognises the persistent criticism of Warzone 2 even with the small map:

Ashika Island is fun, but it still feels like you”re being forced into a slow play style for a win. Not really what previous Rebirth Island players want to hear, but that”s my experience after the first two hours. Playing hyperaggressively = dead.

By the way, the new shotgun is enormously powerful in his opinion, you can see a small gameplay clip here:

The well-known influencer (JGOD) also has a lot of fun with Ashika Island, but continues to complain about the short TTK (Time to Kill). However, he is pleased that no AI enemies made it onto the map at launch.

Content Creator (KRNG Espresso) also enjoys the new map:

I really enjoyed Ashika Island (Resrugence) in my matches today. Pacing felt good for the first few rounds without the “movement metas”. I rocked most of the matches. Looking forward to more.

But he also highlights that he feels lucky to get away without constant crashes – unlike many others. This is also one of the biggest criticisms among other players.

Continued technical problems

On Twitter, (Excellence) writes that he doesn”t get to play at all because the title keeps crashing on him. Steam user (purgatxrial) also criticises similar things in a review:

Season 2 crashes more than drunk drivers. With each update it gets worse, would like my money back;

User (Trantor) on the other hand, is dissatisfied with the little content:

The update only brings a new map and game modes that nobody wanted. How about increasing the player count of DMZ for 4 players? It”s the only good game mode. Sad.

Twitter user (Gilly) sees as many positives as negatives about Season 2:

I can”t decide between a win or a lose because I”m in the middle. Looting is still clunky, it”s really hard to tell what”s on the ground. Resurgence shouldn”t have backpacks. It”s not necessary as it”s a much faster game mode. Also, we really need pings on the minimap.

Have you played into the second season yet? What do you think of the update so far? Does Ashika Island offer you a pleasant change from the big maps or are you disappointed that Modern Warfare 2 hardly got any new content in multiplayer? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
