The time has come: Modern Warfare 2, the latest Call of Duty, will be released on 28 October 2022. And as usual for multiplayer games, fans can expect a beta. We summarise all the information currently available: When the beta release is coming, what content you can expect and how you can ultimately play Modern Warfare 2 before release.

Of course, we have a lot more interesting facts about Call of Duty: MW2 up our sleeves for you. In our big overview you will find everything that is currently known about the story, the gameplay, the campaign, the multiplayer, the maps and more.

What we know so far about the MW2 beta

That a beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is coming is no secret. After all, it is already promised on the (official website) . As far as concrete information is concerned, however, it remains manageable. Nevertheless, we have already scraped together for you what we could find out so far about the pre-release phase of the CoD coming at the end of 2022.

Release: When does the beta start?

At the moment it is not officially known when the beta of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will start. Originally, a release in September 2022 could have been expected, for example, so that the developers from Infinity Ward would have enough time until 28 October to react to any feedback from players and implement that.

According to the industry insider (RalphsValve) fans will have to wait a few weeks longer. Supposedly, the beta won’t start until mid-September – but keep in mind that Playstation players will probably get their turn before anyone else, just like in previous CoDs.

According to RalphsValve, the current beta dates for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 are as follows – this is not officially confirmed at this time, so enjoy the dates with a little scepticism despite a reliable source:

  • Early Access on Playstation: September 15 to 16.
  • open Beta on Playstation: 17 to 19 September
  • Early Access on all platforms: 22 to 23 September.
  • Open Beta on all platforms: 24 to 26 September

You can find a first impression of the game in the gameplay trailer for CoD Modern Warfare 2:

Download and Preload

There is currently no official or unofficial information about the preload dates. Considering the beta phases of previous CoDs, fans can also expect to be able to download the files at least 24 hours before the beta starts. As soon as there is concrete information on this, we will of course let you know.

Registration: How do I participate?

How to get in (sooner): As a rule, anyone who has a Battle.net account and registers for it can take part in the Call of Duty betas. If you want to get advance access and register for Early Access – you can find the details above – you have to pre-order Modern Warfare 2.

Content: What’s in the beta?

A damn good question that we can’t answer at the moment. We will have to wait until Infinity Ward shares concrete details about the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta. We will of course stay tuned.

There will almost certainly be no single-player content to play, because that has never been possible in the history of Call of Duty. Players can probably expect to see the multiplayer classic 6vs.6, though whether there will also be a taste of the brand new DMZ mode remains to be seen.

What are your hopes and expectations for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2? Are you more interested in the single player campaign or the multiplayer mode? Let us know in the comments!
