Battlefield 2042 reveals its third Season with all the details on the new content. What”s new and when it starts, you can read here.

While the competition in the form of Call of Duty just released Warzone 2 and ushered in the first Season, Battlefield 2042 now introduces Season 3. As already suspected in advance, we get new high-tech toys and a map in the north of Sweden. We show you all the new content and answer the most important questions about the release.

Release of Season 3: Escalation

Season 3 Escalation will be released with all new content on 22 November 2022 You will probably be able to download the Season 3 update on the morning of 22 November, but an exact time is not yet known. Usually, another update is released before the start of the season, which brings bug fixes and comfort improvements. Nothing is known about this yet either, but we will keep you up to date.

Free Phases and Game Pass Release

With the launch of Season 3, Battlefield 2042 will also be available for free to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. Those who have become curious about the shooter can also try it out for free for a few days. In Germany, this works at the following times:

  • On Xbox from 1 December at 21:00 until 5 December at 09:00.
  • On Steam from 1 December at 19:00 until 5 December at 19:00.
  • On PlayStation from 16 December at 17:00 until 21 December at 17:00.

New map: Spearhead

Gameplay from the new map can already be seen in the trailer above. For the first time, the new map called Spearhead takes us to Sweden. You fight for control of a fully automated weapons factory located in a valley covered in rock formations. This is apparently also where the new tanks are made that you will be able to drive in Season 3. From above, the map looks like this:

New Specialist: Rasheed Zain

As usual, there will also be a new Specialist who will later be assigned to the Stormtrooper class. Rasheed Zain is a former Egyptian soldier who lost both legs in an accident and is now equipped with powerful prostheses. You can unlock him in Season 3”s Battle Pass.

Zain regenerates health instantly when he kills an enemy, and is therefore well suited to an offensive playstyle. He is also equipped with an airburst grenade launcherwhich allows him to target opponents behind cover with explosive rounds.

New weapons

In addition to the new Specialist”s gadget, other new weapons will of course be released in Season 3 that can be unlocked via the Battle Pass like Rasheed Zain.

  • Rorsch Mk-4 Railgun: A sniper rifle with high penetrating power. Uses electromagnetic force to accelerate projectiles particularly strongly. Has multiple firing modes.
  • NVK-S22: A double-barreled, semi-automatic shotgun.
  • NVK-P125: A bullpup pistol with a long barrel that is very accurate and can also be used at long distances. Semi-automatic.
  • Throwing Knife: As a throwing weapon that you can equip as an alternative to grenades, this silent weapon returns from previous Battlefield games.

In addition to the brand new weapons, there are also additional Vault weapons that will be carried over from Battlefield Portal into the standard modes. For the start of Season 3, there are two new guns you can see above, with more to be released later with updates.

New Vehicle

A new vehicle is also available with the launch of Season 3. The EMKV90-TOR is a state-of-the-art tank equipped with a high-powered railgun, and has two different modes of operation.

In mobility mode, you are unsurprisingly the fastest. In siege mode, on the other hand, the tank slows itself down, changes its shape and stabilises its gun. In this mode, you benefit from increased rate of fire and accuracy.

More content during Season 3

Further plans for Season 3 have also been known for some time. The following improvements and content are scheduled to appear during the Season:

  • Map Reworks: Manifest and Upheaval will appear as revised versions with updates 3.1 and 3.2.
  • Return to Class System: Update 3.2 also sees Battlefield 2042 return to the class system. Weapon selection is not to be restricted, but Specialist will benefit from advantages for certain weapon types depending on their class.
  • New Event: As in Season 2, there will again be an event where you can probably play a special mode. But this time you should be able to unlock more cosmetics.

How do you like the new content of Season 3? Will you be giving Battlefield a try again, or are you still into it anyway? Feel free to post your opinion in the comments!
