The block-building phenomenon is now available for Nintendo’s new console. In addition to upgraded graphics, the latest update features frosty ice caves.
As of yesterday, Minecraft is also available for all Nintendo Switch 2 users. For 29.99 euros, you can get this iconic game on the compact console and build to your heart’s content with blocks, explore the blocky world, battle monsters, and dig your way through the many layers. Minecraft is now optimized for Switch 2, so the fun is practically guaranteed. So no more rough edges—just a smooth gaming experience? That’s what the new launch trailer seems to suggest, at least.
Minecraft Unleashes Its Full Visual Power on the Switch 2
The visual experience is enhanced by Vibrant Visuals. On the game’s store page, Nintendo writes: “Vibrant Visuals is the biggest official visual enhancement for Minecraft—delivering a breathtaking cosmetic upgrade with a new, modern graphics pipeline and a range of visual improvements. Sunrises look more vibrant, water reflects light, forests are shaded, and much more!”
However, this enhancement is not available in split-screen mode or in certain Marketplace worlds and content.
Minecraft is available as the digital Standard Edition, the Deluxe Collection, or the Ultimate Collection. Of course, you can also purchase a physical copy in-store if you prefer.
If you already own a version for the original Nintendo Switch, you don’t need to buy the entire game again—you can simply opt for an upgrade.
“Transfer your worlds from the Nintendo Switch to the Nintendo Switch 2 and pick up right where you left off—or simply enjoy the game on the go,” Nintendo writes in the trailer’s video description.
Patch 26.60 is also now live. “We’ve included some experimental features from the upcoming update! Venture into the ice caves and discover the new icicles, ice crystals, and frost elements,” according to the official patch notes.
In addition, the update is said to include “more than 600 bug fixes.” Of these, 89 were addressed based on direct feedback from the community.
