Bandai Namco combines mech battles with infantry missions: Pilots leave the cockpit to plant bombs, use SP skills, and navigate a modernized UI.
This afternoon, Bandai Namco announced Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3, the latest installment in the long-running Battle Operation series.
The free-to-play title is coming to PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and, according to the publisher, will feature cross-play, improved graphics, expanded Mobile Suit combat, and new tactical gameplay features on the battlefield.
Fight on foot and in the cockpit: Tactical coordination between Mobile Suits and infantry
With “detailed graphics, faithfully designed Mobile Suits, and large-scale battles,” the game aims to deliver an even more intense battlefield experience. Players take on the role of mercenaries and control a variety of Mobile Suits in large-scale team battles, where mechs and foot soldiers fight side by side.
“As the latest free-to-play entry in the Battle Operation series, the title further expands on the series’ signature synergy between Mobile Suits and infantry,” the statement reads. “In addition to fighting enemy Mobile Suits, players can also leave their cockpits to plant bombs, call in supporting fire, and capture strategic objectives on foot.”
Gundam SEED Debut and New SP Skills: More Dynamism Thanks to Battle Assist and a Fresh UI
On the maps, units from the Universal Century and alternative Gundam universes clash head-on. At launch, the developers are starting with Mobile Suit Gundam SEED—additional series will follow via updates.
In addition, team battles will be enhanced with SP skills that strengthen each Mobile Suit’s individual profile and strategic role. Also included are a new Battle Assist feature and a revamped user interface that makes executing combos easier.
