Bulkhead’s new PC game has already sold over a million copies at launch. The enormous rush from the community caused some wait times.
Bulkhead’s multiplayer shooter Wardogs has had a rocket-like launch on Steam.
The game launched in Early Access yesterday and immediately sold a million copies—at peak times, around 340,000 players were online simultaneously. This led to some longer wait times.
“Not Just Blind Hype”: CEO Joe Brammer Surprised by Million-Seller Success
“Breaking the one-million-copy sales mark right at the start of Early Access is just crazy,” explains Joe Brammer, CEO of Bulkhead. “Over the past few months, we’ve clearly shown what Wardogs is—and what it isn’t. At one point, we even listed ten reasons not to buy the game. We didn’t want people to just follow blind hype.”
“The fact that over a million people have still chosen our game and jumped right in at the start of Early Access means the world to us. But we’re still in Early Access. We still have to fix bugs, make improvements, and develop a whole lot of new content. The best thing the community can do right now is to just keep playing, share your feedback with us, and keep creating those completely crazy Wardogs moments.”
Console Release Not Until 2028: What’s Next for the Multiplayer Shooter
For now, Wardogs is available exclusively on PC. Console releases were already promised at the launch of the Early Access version. However, patience will be required until the 2028 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Throughout the Early Access period, Bulkhead plans to take its time developing new content and therefore expects player numbers to decline or fluctuate. It remains to be seen whether Wardogs can capitalize on this initial wave of enthusiasm in the long term.
