In this eerie adventure, protagonist Holden finds himself stranded in a fog-shrouded small town. The game must be played in handheld mode.
Bloober Team—best known for its remake of Silent Hill 2 and Cronos: The New Dawn—unveiled a new horror game during Nintendo Direct. The title is called Onyx: The Dark Grip and is set to release next year.
Although an exact release window for 2027 has not yet been set, the reveal trailer already offers a first look at a few interesting features. Among other things, the game uses touchscreen and tilt controls, which is why it must be played in handheld mode. So you can expect a good dose of thrills on the go.
In the game itself, you take on the role of Holden. The protagonist followed a mysterious voice and is now stuck in a fog-shrouded small town. To uncover the mystery of this eerie place, he explores spooky locations or simply reads the minds of other people he encounters on his journey.
It was already known that Bloober Team was working on an exclusive title for the Nintendo Switch 2. This reveal now shows that the studio is returning to its roots with somewhat smaller projects. In recent years, the developers’ focus has primarily been on more elaborate productions, all of which were well-received. The remake of *Silent Hill 2* was, of course, a huge hit, and *Cronos* was also very well received by fans. Let’s hope *Onyx* meets a similar fate.
