The immortal machines showcase their combat style in the video. The developers also promise the popular Crusade mode and story add-ons following the release.
The third of a total of four deep-dive trailers for the strategy game Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War 4 focuses on the Necrons and their methodical combat style.
In their campaign to reclaim Kronus, they aim to expand their territory to gain resources across the entire battlefield. To do so, they restore ancient structures and activate their Power Matrix, through which they hope to gradually turn the tide of war in their favor. At the center of it all is the Tomb Citadel, which also serves as a production facility for units.
“At the helm of their forces are two powerful commanders: the Chronomant Thothmek, who bends time to halt enemies and accelerate the Necrons’ rebirth, and Ahmnok, once ruler of Kronus, who is utterly consumed by the urge to destroy all life,” the description states. “With self-repairing legions, unyielding constructs, and ancient technologies that bend space and time, the Necrons do not adapt to war—they outlast it.”
Release Date, Editions, and Post-Launch Roadmap
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 will be released on September 17, 2026, for PC; with the Commander Edition, you can get started as early as September 14. Both editions are available for pre-order with a 10 percent discount.
After launch, developer King Art Games plans to significantly expand the game. For the first year, they promise several free updates, including the return of Crusade mode—new maps, game modes, commanders, the mission editor, and two major story expansions are also planned.
