Kingdom Come: Salvation is reportedly the title of the next medieval role-playing game. The logo has also already been leaked.

The information is still somewhat unofficial; at least, it hasn’t yet been shared on Warhorse’s public channels. However, it comes from a highly reliable source: According to a trademark registration by the studio, the next gamefrom the developer is titled Kingdom Come: Salvation. This is evident from aofficial application filed with the European Patent Office

The game’s logo is already visible there, and it fits perfectly with the series’ tried-and-true theme:

What does the title reveal?

The fact thatDeliveranceisn’t used could suggest that this isn’t a direct sequel. Which was already to be expected, after all, since the game was revealed asa new adventureand not as KCD3.

There could be a new main character named Heinrich von Skalitz—pure speculation, but an assumption that has long prevailed in the fan community. Or perhaps Heinrich’s story continues after all. From a biblical perspective, “Salvation” is what comes after “Deliverance.”

There certainly seems to be a connection between the stories of the previous games and this new installment.

We already played as Godwin at times in KCD2. His backstory could be a possible setting, as could a new character who suffers an injustice and then grows into the next hero.

The story could pick up seamlessly after KCD2, since Wenzel’s liberation is scheduled for the fall. Or there could be a bigger leap forward to the Hussite Wars. Or perhaps a prequel?

Our Assessment

My prediction: Given the short planned development time (Kingdom Come: Salvation is scheduled to be released in fiscal year 2027/28), I suspect that the temporal and geographical setting won’t change too much. After all, Warhorse will certainly reuse many assets to save work and time.

Many fans seem to have long assumed that Heinrich won’t be returning as the protagonist. For me personally, his story is far from over—so much is left unresolved after the end of KCD2: Erik, Heinrich’s future, Wenceslas’s return to the throne, Zizka’s attempts to recruit soldiers, Hans’s wedding (and, depending on the player’s choices, the complicated secret romance between him and Heinrich) .

Plus, I’ve just gotten so used to Tom McKay as the voice and face of Kingdom Come that a change would initially make me go, “Oh man.” But hey, Warhorse has always made the best decisions for their story so far. I’ll approach the new ideas with a healthy dose of trust for now.

Multiplayer Speculations

The patent application also mentions online services. This has led some fans and news outlets to speculate that Salvation might be a multiplayer spin-off.

I can’t imagine that. Warhorse has repeatedly emphasized that they see their core expertise specifically in the realm of single-player role-playing games. The new KCS is explicitly an open-world RPG. And developing that as an MMO concept from scratch would likely be impossible within a two- to three-year development cycle.

Especially since that wouldn’t be what most fans want anyway. We’ve sent a request to the developers and will let you know if we get a response.

What do you think of the title Kingdom Come Salvation? What setting are you hoping for, and which character (or characters!) would you most like to see in the lead role? Feel free to let us know in the comments below. It won’t be long before we find out more, provided Warhorse can stick to its ambitious schedule. Maybe we’ll even see it at The Game Awards in December?
