The new trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine showcases Logan’s memory lapses, a Sentinel boss fight, and the infamous ninja faction known as the Hand.

Marvel’s Wolverine is set to release on September 15, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 and will be Insomniac’s first Marvel game that isn’t about Spider-Man. Instead, we’ll embark on a dangerous mission with the gruff Canadian with adamantium claws. The new story trailer also finally provides more clues about what we can look forward to. However, the comments section is still dominated by a different topic.

Eye Color Change: Is Logan’s Memory Being Manipulated?

Marvel’s Wolverine will undoubtedly be brutal, bloody, and unmistakably Logan. From his classic yellow suit to a flannel shirt and even a white suit with a Goro Majima-style design, we’ll follow the mutant through various stages of his life, though exactly what the story will entail isn’t entirely clear yet. The new trailer, released during San Diego Comic-Con 2026, offers some fresh insights.

For me, the most striking revelation is that Logan seems to be having some trouble controlling himself and remembering his past. But I doubt that’s solely due to his long lifespan. Right at the beginning of the trailer, we see his irises change from a strange yellow hue to his normal eye color. In short, I think someone is trying to control Wolverine, which in turn could explain his memory lapses—even though these have been explored in various ways time and again in the comics and movies.

Sabertooth, ninjas from the Hand, and a massive Sentinel boss fight

Logan’s struggle seems to focus not only on liberating mutants but also on exploring his past. This includes Sabertooth, his brother, who apparently isn’t just an antagonist in the game. At least, he seems to come to Logan’s aid in one or two fights. Speaking of fights, the trailer also appears to show a boss battle against a massive Sentinel, which is sure to please some comic book fans. I’m already really excited to see what’s in store here.

This time around, we’ll also see more of the Hand, a ninja group that frequently makes appearances in *Daredevil* and *Spider-Man*. Alongside the cybernetically enhanced henchmen, the Hand will likely serve as another opposing faction and could provide an exciting change of pace in gameplay as we face off against agile ninjas.

After watching this trailer, I’m even more excited for Marvel’s Wolverine and can’t wait to see Logan’s inner conflicts. Meanwhile, the comments under the trailer are full of references to Sony’s decision to stop producing physical discs and the joy of still being able to get this game on disc. It’s a trend that runs through several trailers.
