Can’t wait for Stronghold 4 to come out? Starting today, you can at least play a quick round of it.
The unveiling ofStronghold 4was one of the most delightful surprises of the past few weeks. Especially, of course, for fans of the Middle Ages and castle-building. The real-time strategy game aims to finally continue the series with real success and, to that end, is returning to its roots.
The game is heavily inspired by the very first Stronghold and even tells the prequel to the story of that original game. It remains to be seen whether Firefly will finally land another major hit with this. But starting today, you can at least get a first look for yourself and find out, whether it has a chance at success!
A public demo for Stronghold 4 will be released on June 23.
- Where can I find the demo? On Steam
- What time will the demo be released? At 5:00 p.m.
Here’s what to expect in the demo
Firefly hasn’t yet announced the exact contents of the demo. Before the game’s reveal, there was already a closed demo that we were able to play for our big preview. However, the public demo is expected to differ from the one we played.
In our demo, there was first a short tutorial to learn the basics. We imagine the public Steam demo will be similar. After that, we were able to play a mission in which, in classic style, enemies kept advancing, attempting to capture our castle with increasing intensity.
You can expect some kind of mission in the public demo as well! In any case, we hope you’ll be able to thoroughly test out the castle-building mechanics to decide whether Stronghold 4 might be worth it for you.
When will the full game be released?
The fact that there’s already a playable demo for Stronghold 4 shows that development is already quite far along. We also know that Stronghold 4 is definitely scheduled to be released this year. Just when exactly is still unknown.
We’re guessing it won’t happen this summer, and fall is actually already extremely packed with releases. September, in particular, is extremely overloaded, as many studios are trying to avoid clashing with the November release of GTA 6.
Accordingly, Stronghold would have to be released either in October or December if it doesn’t want to compete with GTA 6. However, we wouldn’t rule out a delay until next year either.
